Super casual atmosphere… Our server spoke English and very friendly - we both had great lunches one was called the Tex-Mex steak and red peppers cheese served on grilled Ciabatta and I had the Cubana (smoked pork, cheese, ham, pickles & mustard on grilled marble)&...salad - perfect afternoon. The band played Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, and other great rock hits from that era. Server call the taxi for us when we were ready to go👍🏻😎More

The little Oceanside cafe with beach sand floor is worth the trip over dirt roads and the different modes of travel ... trains, planes, and pulmonias. We’ve been here 3 time and loved it immensely! The bagel, waffles and mex tex are what we had...last time .... yummie!!!More

This is a great place to come for good food, fun music, and gorgeous views of the ocean (it’s right on the beach). It is open air, although there is some shade coverage for most seats. Reservations are almost a necessity because they offer live...music. Service can be slow, but that seems to be because the restaurant fills to capacity as the music starts. They do keep the beverages coming so people mostly don’t mind the slow service. Portions are huge. I had a pizza and my hubby had a spring roll. Both were delicious. They only serve breakfast and lunch. We had lunch, but the cinnamon rolls were gigantic and looked amazing. It is located outside of town, on the north end, just past Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay, so it’s not walkable for most folks, but cabs and pullmanias know the restaurant well and can’t get you there inexpensively.More

Although Surf’s Up Cafe is off the beaten path (you literally drive a dirt road to get there) don’t let that stop you from going. The place is beach-front and is great for breakfast and lunch. Food is good, unpretentious and filling. Prices are good,...too. And they have live music I think from Friday to Sunday afternoons. Been there twice and will certainly go back.More

This restaurant is out of the way but a must to go to. On a quiet beach that is good for a stroll after a great brunch. The food is always well prepared and the seating is out doors so social distancing is assured. The...owner gives back to the community through the support she gives at local charities. Don’t miss this restaurant!!More

We stayed at the B&B next door for a week and enjoyed the hospitality at Surfs Up on a number of occasions. Excellent live music greeted our arrival on Thursday afternoon, and we enjoyed a yummy Margarita and roasted corn salad while singing along with...the band, Beggars Banquet. Leanne and Tyler are awesome hosts who lead an attentive and delightful team!More

It’s not often that you find a restaurant that has everything— epic atmosphere (right on the beach), friendly and efficient staff, and the food is beyond excellent. EVERYTHING is good here. The burritos and tacos are made with homemade tortillas and whatever else they put...in the recipe makes it come out to some of the best food we’ve ever had. This is becoming our second home down the beach from our condo.More

Great food. We had the beach burger and the open faced chicken sandwich. Both were fantastic. The burger was very large. All the food being delivered to tables around us appeared to be good as well. We were there for Reggae afternoon. The band was...very good. Enjoyable afternoon of drinks, food and music.More

A mile down the beach from our resort, we have been meaning to try this place for years. This morning we finally got there and are glad we did. Friendly servers, a nice breeze at our table shaded by a palapa, overlooking the beach. Fresh...ingredients, delicious smoothies, huevos rancheros and peach French toast. A delightful and tasty start to our day!More

They were open after some hurricane damage and the breakfast we had was superb. The peach French Toast was sublime and the café Mocha was as well. My wife had the egg bagel which also was very good. Had to have a cinnamon roll before...leaving because they smelled good baking. The road in is relatively short but terrible, but worth it.More

The only form of transportation from the Rui if you don’t have a car is by taxi. There is now a bus but it doesn’t go down towards the Rui. A taxi should cost no more than 100 pesos. We are located 1km past Emerald Bay... More
