Gov. Dan McKee announced on Friday his pick to lead the Rhode Island Department of Health.

The RIDOH has had temporary leadership since the exit of Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott following the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and McKee taking over for Gov. Gina Raimondo.

“Dr. Larkin is a proven leader in the medical field and his experience will be a vital asset to our team and to the people of Rhode Island,” said Gov. McKee in a statement.

According to the governor’s office, Dr. Larkin has 30 years of experience in the healthcare field.

Currently, he works as an associate professor of clinical medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
