Prince Philippos and Nina Flohr's Royal Wedding in Greece

Princess Diana's godson Prince Philippos of Greece and Denmark and his new wife Nina Flohr have had not one, not two, but three weddings in less than year. Granted, with strict COVID regulations, the couple was not able to have their full-fledged nuptials last year, and as royals, we cannot expect anything less than a grandiose wedding.

The two initially tied the knot back in December 2020 during an intimate ceremony at a Swiss ski resort in St. Moritz, which was only attended by both of their fathers—King Constantine III of Greece (Prince William's godfather and Swiss billionaire Thomas Flohr—because of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, she posted a sweet shot of herself and her husband embracing against a snowy backdrop writing, "Just married (civilly) 🤍."

Then, once it was safe to gather in groups again, the two celebrated with another wedding hosted at the house of Vogue writer Alice Naylor-Leyland and her husband Thomas Philip Naylor-Leland this past May at the Stibbington House in Cambridge. At the time, gatherings over 30 people were restricted, which we imagine prompted this third celebration. The Dress

For the third rendition of the couple's wedding, Flohr, who is the founder and creative director of luxury hotel Kisawa Sanctuary, had the ultimate dream wedding dress designed by the dream designer (in our opinion). According to Vogue, on her (third) special day, Flohr wowed in an exquisite white Chanel gown, which featured an off-the-shoulder neckline accented by intricate beading and a large, asymmetric bow.

The skirt featured an embellished cape that fanned out around her, followed by a long train adorned with intricate, silver-hued beaded floral designs. She added a tulle Cathedral veil which measured even longer than the already lengthy train of the dress.

The bride perfected her look with a passed down heirloom on the groom's side: an antique Corsage Tiara embellished with pearls and diamonds, originally a gift to Queen Anne-Marie and then passed down to Princess Marie-Chantal for her 1995 wedding to Prince Pavlos, according to Vogue.

The Venue

Three weddings call for three epic venues and locations. From a Swiss ski resort to a high society event in Cambridgeshire, England, there was a high bar for the royal couple's third nuptials. And they delivered a stunning religious ceremony at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, Greece, on Saturday. Philippo's parents, King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie, tied the knot at the same venue in 1964. In fact, Prince Philippo and Nina's wedding is the first time a Greek royal has wed at the Cathedral since his parents' ceremony.

Nina stopped for photos outside of the church and waved to guests on a marble staircase covered in royal blue fabric. The inside was immaculate and covered in religious relics and vibrant paintings. Along either side of the royal blue aisle were regal columns and arches painted ivory, blue, and gold. Golden chandeliers hung from the ceiling, and above the church's altar was a high-ceiling dome adorned with a religious mural.

The reception was held later at the National Gymnastics Association. 

The Guest List

Any royal affairs come with an impressive guest list and familiar faces from the expansive family. Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were in attendance, as were her sister Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank, to represent the British royals as Prince Philippos is the godson of Princess Diana. Beatrice and Edoardo were photographed with Naylor-Leyland, the host of the couple's second nuptials.

Queen Sofia of Spain showed her support, Prince Ernst August and Princess Ekaterina and Prince Christian and Princess Alessandra, all four from Hanover. Princess Tatiana Radziwill, the daughter of Prince George of Greece and Denmark, also appeared at the nuptials.

Of course, Nina was walked down the aisle by her father Thomas, and Prince Philippo's parents King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie of Denmark, were also in attendance to support the happy couple's third wedding.
