Known for their early ’70s hits – the #1 single, “Want Ads,” “Stick Up” (a No. 1 R&B hit in 1971) and “One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show,” Honey Cone was originally formed in 1968 in Los Angeles with Shelly Clark, Edna Wright and Carolyn Willis as original members.  The trio was signed by the famed Motown songwriting/production team of Holland, Dozier & Holland in 1971 to their then-newly formed Hot Wax Record label.  The group continued recording for Hot Wax until 1973; the late Edna Wright (who passed away in September 2020) recorded as a solo artist in 1976.  

Shelly celebrates the group’s much-deserved induction into The SoulMusic Hall Of Fame with husband Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire fame, himself a recipient of his own certificate for his induction in 2016 in the category “Instrumentalist/Musician”…
