Great fun. Boat ride was peaceful, it was great to see the animals so close. I think there were 3 large playgrounds which the kids could explore. Hours went by quickly. If I were local, I'd go there almost every other weekend!

Loved this zoo, favourite animals, penguins, elephants and gorillas . Good setting & clean. Plenty of places to eat & drink. Downside was with the wasps, they were everywhere, even inside of the restaurants. Husband got stung by one flying up his shirt sleeve.

I am disgusted in how you treat your Elephants. God knows what else you do to the other poor animals. Abusing/forcing them to do tricks for your own selfish reasons so you can bring in money. Shameful! What gives us a right as humans to treat animals like that?!

Went to the zoo with mixed views as a zoo in a city sounds a bit strange. The price was very reasonable and so was the cost of activities/food. A really good selection of the big and small animals, all very easy to get up close to. The recreation of natural habitats was at times strange but the animals looked happy and allowed optimal viewing opportunity. Would definitely recommend to pass a day if you have lost your car keys and were stuck in hannover.

The Berlin Zoo may be more famous, but it the Hannover Zoo is far superior. (Berlin Zoo looks like it hasn't changed in 60 years, with the traditional feeling of animals being imprisoned.) What we love about this zoo is the themed areas -- like Yukon Bay, which is brilliant. Take a boat ride around part of the zoo. What I love about the Hannover zoo is its not just more interesting, I feel it's more human, with more compounds where it appears that animals have space to roam. It's a little expensive -- but worth it! For a few extra Euros you can support a place where the animals have a much nicer life.

Just got back from visiting the Zoo it was a perfect stop over location on the way back from the in laws in Poland on the way to Europort to catch the ferry home.
Arrived at opening time after a short walk from our hotel and it crossed my mind... Have I made a wise decision? Is it going to be a big let down and me the wife and our 5 year old daughter going to go in and be out in an hour....... ???? Well over 8 hours later we had to drag our little one away after the most fantastic time!!! seeing all the amazing animals in great settings... Don't get me wrong it's not as good as Animal Kingdom in Florida but it is a great place to visit... Will be going again says it all....

One of the best zoos I've been to in this part of Europe. Very organized and easy to navigate. The highlights for us and our 7yo were: the boat ride, the Indian courtyard and the elephants, the polar bear, and the gorillas. The sea world show is nice even if the voiceover is only in German.

Visited in June, was not crowded. Huge and very natural looking. Zambesi part was my favorite with the boat ride around. (Queues might be long in peak season.) Lots of exotic trees/bushes/flowers. Also the polar bear/seal/pinguin area was very natural. Feedings/shows are several times a day, worth to check the timetables. Cute restaurants, fantastic ice creams! Several play area, petting area. Biggest elephant nursery in Europe. Lots of animals, every kind. Also slides included in price. The best ever visited Zoo with quality entertainment facilities for children! Price (25 eu) is high, many people say so, but it worth, plan a whole day to spend there. We loved it!

I have now visited this zoo 3 times. It's great, particularly the polar bear exhibit and the elephants. There are lots of places to eat which are all very reasonably priced. A great day out, well worth every penny.

TripAdvisor should play their part by removing any good reviews and put a permanent warning against such a place that has evidence of abuse against the animals!

There is NO TORTURE of baby elephants, ridiculous story brought up by PETA. Shame on them for this.

is this the zoo that tortures baby elephants?

No, this is a story made up by PETA. All animals are treated excellently.

I see you have not answered any of the questions people have for you about thr horrendous animal abuse going on in your zoo with staff beating baby elephants with whips, bullhooks and sticks to perform stupid unnatural tricks for the public. there is video footage out of these beatings been carried out and baby elephants screaming in fear and trying to get away, have you an explanation for this you pack of animal abusers?

I'm a bit worried to see a petition and a video on staff hitting the elephants and using bull hooks. Please explain.
What are you going to do about the ANIMAL ABUSE at your zoo? Stop abusing the baby elephants! Why are you making the baby elephants perform circus tricks at your zoo? Is this place a circus or a zoo????

Hi, geolakat. What would you like to know about this attraction?
Just an FYI, jen40 only...are you aware of the atrocious animal abuse at Erlebnis Zoo? National Geographic reported the sadistic methods of 'training' that are used on the elephants. The issue is dated 041417.
What's the price for 1 ticket ?

I don't remember, except that for a single day it was a bit pricy. We were locals at the time and bought a season ticket. That was actually not so much more, so if you dropped by just a couple of times the total / average price was pretty reasonable. Also, if you come in the afternoon or evening, you can get into the bar / restaurant through the back entrance and you don't pay a thing. That place is at least as nice as the actual zoo!
