The first two discs are excellent, the third gets a little iffy, and the fourth is hilariously bad. If you pretend the last disc doesn't exist, this is one of the better Rod Stewart compilations you're gonna come across.

I got this box set as a gift for some reason. I never could get into Mr. Stewart's solo crooning crap but truth be told he did sing with some cool bands. The first two compact discs mostly cover the tracks he sang on during the 60's and the 70's. The third and fourth discs are, in my opinion, doggy doo doo.
Not all the thirty three tracks on the first two discs will roll your socks up and down but for pure nostalgia they hit the spot. Maggie May and Shapes Of Things alone can take you back to the late sixties and early seventies.
RIP Long John Baldry
RIP Cozy Powell

A tale of two Stewarts
Horrible late 70's and early 80's stuff aside, (and even some of that ain't bad) this set serves as a fine overview of a very frustrating artist. When it's great, it's REALLY great, and when it's bad, it's REALLY bad. But as the fist two disks prove, (both 5 star worthy) this boy could really deliver the goods. Blues are at the base of what he does, with flash and style, often times too much to complete the package. This is good to have if you're a fan, and in fact I bought it as a gift for my wife when we were dating. She's a huge fan. As for me, I'll go with the Faces boxed set any time.Published
Hot Legs. hahahahahahahahahahaha. That video still makes me laugh. This? Oh come on you lot........if you don't know this I don't know where you've been.....answers on a postcard to the usual address. Where was I ......oh yeah, Rod. *kicks football into crowd*.

Some of the 80's stuff ain't so hot, but a sound collection nevertheless with a few nice suprises.

Well done box set with very good packaging. Covers the gritty 60's & 70's... and even the spotty 80's... before it serves up the great 1990 Tom Waits cover "Downtown Train" (which became a huge hit). Once again, a nice compilation of many eras that serve as perfect nod to the finest ballad belter in rock.
