Tove Lo – Borderline Lyrics | Genius Lyrics

Borderline Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Good people do bad things too
Pretend they don't know, but they do
It takes one to know you're mine
You and me, we are one of a kind, it's true

[Pre-Chorus]
I like to feel my bones when they crash into my heart
I like the taste of blood when you're tearin' me apart
I like to push you to the edge as long as you say you're mine
Borderline (Hey)

[Chorus]
Tonight, for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be stuck on you
Hold on till I'm makin' it right
No other love felt like you
I can't give it up in this fight
I cross my heart and hope to die
Borderline
Tonight, for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be stuck on you
Hold on till I'm makin' it right
No other love felt like you
I can't give it up in this fight
I cross my heart and hope to die
Borderline
[Verse 2]
Lost in the magic with you
A pretty disguise from the truth
Truth is ugly, don't open your eyes
I can change, I can change with just one more lie

[Pre-Chorus]
I like to feel my bones when they crash into my heart
I like the taste of blood when you're tearin' me apart
I like to push you to the edge as long as you say you're mine
Borderline (Hey)

[Chorus]
Tonight, for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be stuck on you
Hold on till I'm makin' it right
No other love felt like you
I can't give it up in this fight
I cross my heart and hope to die
Borderline
Tonight, for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be stuck on you
Hold on till I'm makin' it right
No other love felt like you
I can't give it up in this fight
I cross my heart and hope to die
Borderline
[Bridge]
(Borderline)
I like to push you to the edge as long as you say you're mine
Borderline (Borderline)

[Chorus]
Tonight, for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be stuck on you (Stuck on you)
Hold on till I'm makin' it right
No other love felt like you (Felt like you)
I can't give it up in this fight
I cross my heart and hope to die (Hope to die; die)
Borderline (Borderline)
Tonight, for the rest of my life
I'm gonna be stuck on you (Stuck on you)
Hold on till I'm makin' it right (Make it, make it right)
No other love felt like you (Felt like you)
I can't give it up in this fight
I cross my heart and hope to die (Hope to die)
Borderline (Borderline)

[Outro]
I know I said that I could change (Stuck on you)
I don't know what to do about a man that's this beautiful (Felt like you)
I cross my heart and hope to die (Hope to die)

About

Genius Annotation

“Borderline” is the first single from the upcoming reissue of Tove Lo’s fifth studio album, Dirt Femme. The song and its music video are a continuation of the “No One Dies From Love” storyline.

Co-written with longtime collaborators The Struts (Ludvig Söderberg and Jakob Jerlström), Tove Lo also wrote “Borderline” with Dua Lipa during their first writing session together.

It’s rumored that the track was intended to be included in Dua’s sophomore album Future Nostalgia, as well as in its reissue, but after the English singer completely scrapped it, Tove Lo, in a first time occurrence, decided to keep a song originally written for another artist and release it under her name.

Tove first hinted at “Borderline” on January 12. After spending the holidays in New Zealand, she shared that she would be heading back to the U.S. to shoot a music video. She later responded to a fan asking for more details that the video in question was for a song that was coming “pretty soon” and was a “sequel” to something fans had already seen.

On February 6, hours before kicking off the North American leg of her Dirt Femme tour in Nashville, Tove Lo announced that she would be performing “Borderline” for the very first time during the show. The song’s live debut was also streamed via her Instagram account. Its release date was revealed the following day.
