#WildcatWednesday - Meet Mr. Sandlin

Every Wednesday we will be showcasing a different staff member here at Whittier Tech!

This week is Mr. Mike Sandlin! Mr. Sandlin is in his 8th year at Whittier Tech. He teaches Carpentry during the day and Basic Woodworking during Night School. He also serves as a Ski Club Advisor and the freshmen basketball coach.

Here are some fun facts about Mr. Sandlin:

What do you like about Whittier: I like Whittier Tech for exactly what it is, a Trade School.  Students are learning skills they can use today, tomorrow, and in their future. Skilled tradespeople are important to our community and I am proud to be teaching our future carpenters.

Fun Facts about yourself:  I graduated from Whittier in 1997 and my son is on track to graduate from Whittier in 2027! I married my high school sweetheart and we have 2 children. We love outdoor adventures such as skiing, snowmobiling, atving and bmx biking together. I also love working on my family’s farm in Haverhill where we grow feed hay and pumpkins.

Mr. Sandlin’s advice to students: Take full advantage of Whittier's Co-op program! Not only will it help build employability skills for life after Whittier but can also build connections that last a lifetime.  Show up on time, try your hardest, don't give up, and know that your work matters.

Thank you, Mr. Sandlin, for your continued support of vocational education!

Stay tuned next week to meet our next staff member!
