Somerset College Preparatory Academy Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 72 reviews
The school is great for middle schoolers to get early access to high school classes. However, high school gets little to no readiness for college. Besides the college style block schedule, there is little to nothing that can provide for us. We barely have any AP classes, very small class catalog for core classes, and barely any decent extracurriculars. The school is overfilled to the points students need to sit on the ground or stairs because there aren't many seats. It is nice that it's a mostly outside campus but it does mean our cafeteria is small. The school's lack of funding is also noticeable if you attend the school. Some of the staff are great but the school is known for being in some sort of controversy every year.
This school has been a roller coaster from start to finish. The worst parts included incompetence among administration, as well as serious lack of teachers. The teachers were kind and helpful for the most part but without an efficient administration system the school is a mess. There is a constant overflow of kids and this leads to slow communication and problem solving, and zero transparency or clarification on any issues unless you ask yourself. There aren’t enough AP classes being offered, though the dual enrollment program is very good.
Honestly, I loved attending here, there were ups and downs considering the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I am big into theater, choir, and the arts and there has always been outlets for me to express this. All things considered I am about to graduate with my associate degree in the arts because of Dual Enrollment, and I am so ready to go to college.
