Barron Collier High School Reviews
Rating 3.7 out of 5 332 reviews
The best part of going to Barron Collier High School is that I had never felt unsafe or uncomfortable by the teaching style or presence of any teacher. It truly is a good school with a variety of activities and resources. Resources for college, mental health, career readiness, drivers Ed, and much more. This school is rich in culture and diversity and provides great spirit and proudness amongst itself. Of course, there are always some teacher you may not be the biggest fan of in a school but that type of opinion is quite easy to set aside. The teachers are open minded and provide a great effort when helping a student as long as they are not shy to request it. The food is good but then again, it is school food so I do not expect it to be luxurious quality. This year the school has turned selfless by allowing breakfast and lunch to be free of cost to all students. The bathrooms are well maintained and overall the school is cleaner than expected for a setting of over 1,000 students.
Attending Barron Collier is exactly what one might expect when going to school in Naples Florida. Safe for the lively sport and social environment, the actual school hours lack in attention to personal wellness and understanding. The main goal, which stems not specifically to Barron, is a focus on appearance of grades instead of personal academic learning. Although connections and memories are made, a majority of student fail to feel taught. Overlapping assignments and classes along with differing work hours is not an accommodation that is met. You must prioritize your grades whilst upkeeping your personal and work life. It is hard to truly learn in situations such as this. It is also hard to excell in a building that lacks life and color.
The best part of my high school in my opinion is our JROTC program, I am the Battalion Commander and we have created such a great community for all of the kids at our school. And my “worst” experience is probably just the environment of the building and physical place of the high school. Barron Collier is a completely indoors high school that was not built with the amount of students it currently has in mind. One thing I would change would be to add more life skills classes, like Home Ec and woodshop and actual classes where we can learn how to do things that we can use on a daily basis, not Trigonometry.
