If you’re a horror fan theres a new feature film to check out on Netflix, and it is one to watch from behind a pillow. But whats the story and how do you watch it?

What is Aftermath?
Aftermath follows a young couple who move into a new home after a period of marital problems. But their new life is not what it seems, and unexpected and unexplained events keep happening.
The Netflix synopsis says: “Desperate to save their marriage, a young couple takes a deal and moves into their dream home. But disturbing events reveal the house’s troubled history.”
It is based on the true story of Jerry Rice and Janice Ruhter, who bought a home in San Diego, California, in late 2011.
The couple stopped receiving their mail, were signed up to $1,000 of magazine subscriptions, and had Valentine’s cards with Rice’s name sent to other women on their street.
Upon searching for Ms Ruhter’s name online, they found ads for sex parties at their home, entitled “Carmel Valley Freak Show”.
There were even advertisements inviting men to come to the house and rape Ms Ruhter, claiming it was her fantasy.
Reports show that one said: “I love to be surprised and have a man just show up at my door and force his way in the door and on me, totally taking me while I say no.”
It caused strain on their marriage. Ms Ruhter told People magazine: “It was a huge stress in our life for so long. We are trying to heal the best way we can.”
SPOILER: Kathy J Row, who was annoyed at being outbid on the house, was convicted in 2015 She was sentenced to a year of electronic surveillance and five years of probation.
Ms Ruhter said in her victim statement: “The home should be a place of safety and sanctuary.
“But I never truly felt this way in our house. I felt most secure away from my home. The house became my prison.”
Mr Rice added: “Had law enforcement not intervened in this case, I am certain Mrs Rowe would have continued her attacks until she successfully brought physical harm to a member of my family.”
Who stars in Aftermath?
Ashley Greene
Ms Greene plays Natalie Dadich but she is best known for playing Alice Cullen in the film adaptations of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels.
Shawn Ashmore
Mr Ashmore plays Kevin Dadich, but he is known for his roles as Bobby Drake/Iceman in the X-Men film series, as well as the main character, Jack Joyce, in the 2016 video game Quantum Break.
Sharif Atkins
Mr Atkins plays Officer Richardson. He is is known for his role as Dr Michael Gallant on ER and for as FBI Agent Clinton Jones on White Collar.
