Royal Military Academy Sandhurst wins Army Minor Units Cup for third successive year

Watch: The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the Combat Manoeuvre Centre play in the Army Minor Units Cup final

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) football team have won the Army Minor Units Cup for the third successive year.

The Sandhurst based team came into the final as defending champions as they faced challenging opponents in players from the Combat Manoeuvre Centre (CMC) to overcome.

A long-range free kick by skipper Mark Evans game RMAS the early lead four minutes into the game.

CMC did enough to create chances and get within striking distance inside the box, but getting past Sandhurst keeper Steven Norris was a challenge they struggled to overcome.

In the second half, Sandhurst still held the advantage with the 0-1 lead but had to play defensively to hold off a resolute CMC team.

At 67 minutes, RMAS forward Ryan Ford attacked his way inside the box to strike the ball into the net, but the referee was quick to disallow the goal due to a handball.

And as the final whistle sounded seven minutes into stoppage time, the team from the RMAS celebrated their third successive Army Minor Units Cup win with a 0-1 win over the CMC.

Attention will now turn to the Army Major Unit Cup final in Aldershot on 1 May where The Royal Tank Regiment will face 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment.
