I really like East, I transferred there this year after starting off high school at another school and it's been a really good experience so far. The clubs are really fun and just the amount of opportunities is amazing. The transition honestly wasnt that hard it was just getting used to a school of practically 3,000 and trying to figure out my place and friends. The safetys good, the police officers and sros on campus are really kind and easy to connect with but with the shooting threats and everything recently it feels a little unsafe but its just in the back of my head rather than at the front.
East High is an outgoing mix of students from different backgrounds. This diversity at our school makes learning more than just about textbooks and tests. It's about understanding others who are different from us. This makes learning at East High not just educational, but engaging and fun. Our school offers many activities like drama and robotics, so everyone has something they can enjoy. We have many sports teams too, like football and cross-country. Our school schedule is great because it includes block days and different classes, which cater to people with different learning styles. We have many class options. Every student can find something they like. My high school experience at East High has been a challenging but rewarding journey. It's been like a mini-college experience that has prepared me for the next big step in my education. However, one thing I would like to see change is the school spirit at games. Increasing school spirit adds an element of fun and excitement.
Pretty good school overall, but had some safety issues involving guns in 2023. Fixed it by adding SROs and have had no issues since.
Excellent teachers, unique and challenging classes, strong school spirit/culture, beautiful urban campus near City Park. I’m absolutely loving my time at East so far.
Throughout my high school years at East, I experienced many challenges and cherished moments. Starting with online classes due to the pandemic, returning to the campus was a joy. East is a beautiful facility. Joining the cheer team allowed me to bond with my mom during homecoming for three unforgettable years, as she is an alumnus. However, my junior year was marred by gun violence, including the loss of a dear athlete and troubling incidents on campus. Despite these hardships, maintaining a high GPA and engaging in extracurriculars shaped my senior year positively. I want all students to get the support they need to succeed in school.
Over these past four years , the counseling and college advisement staff as been the biggest help in getting me ready for life after high school
Generally, it is a great school. The cirriculum is huge and for the most part there isn't specific teachers who are infamous. Most departments do a good job, most teachers are nice, people are welcoming. There is a group and class for everyone. I've struggled with our engineering department but as they are reforming it, it should be getting better. Our principal is nice but definetly all I have heard from her has been PR.
I loved my time at East, all the teachers were extremely kind, understanding, and supportive. I really do feel they helped me quite a bit in preparing for college, and beyond. The worst part about my experience was honestly trying to play for the women's soccer program. Every year, the head coach would tear me down and continually make me feel like I wasn't good enough to play, which I absolutely was, as I am now a college athlete. It was all too political, and the coach played favorites. My only other complaint about East was the safety. The bomb threats and fire alarms ging off once a week was already bad enough, but on top of that, there was 2 shootings and a threat all within the same school year. While I loved my time at East, I'm grateful I graduated when I did. I would love to see better saftey measures and policies not only implimented, but followed through on.
I have loved my expersience within the East comunity, there have been really hard times with all of the shootings and the deaths and injurys of classmates and staff but I think it brought us closer as a community.
At East Highschool Its like a busy hard work to able get the right grade you want. sometimes missing stuff could really make your grade down but over all it's a good school. Something I would like to see the change of East Highschool is better teachers that really care about the students not just mainly on there grade.
Some of the best experiences i have had at east high school has come from the opprotunities that are provided, school trips, guest speakers, and clubs i attend. Although we did have a rough 2022-2023 experience with the shootings and the consistent safe-to-tell calls i believe it was all part of who i am today and where i am and what i want to do for the rest of my high school experience.
I love East because I feel like everyone in our community is well connected. However East has gone through two shootings to which not much is being done for, but this year I do feel safeer. That being said East does have a good environment, the AP teachers are very good and I feel very prepared for all AP tests, and have passed each one.
During my time at East High school I had so much fun. I learned many lessons some tough ones and some that were easier on me. I met some amazing people and amazing teachers throughout my 4 years. Although in my Graduating year, 2023 there was many scares and instances where we were either in lockdown or were being evacuated. Other than my final year I’d have to say it was a very enjoyable time.
I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in attending East High School. the majority of teachers and staff are all very good at their job and good people. This makes class very engaging and a great place to learn the wide assortment of subjects offered at East. The community and students are also very supportive of each other through hard times and in times of triumph. Some of my favorite experiences at East are at pep rallies and sports games. Being a big school means that we have the opportunity to make it to the state championship in some sports which is amazing for the school spirit. East like every high school isn't perfect but at East almost everyone can find their clique and feel a sense of belonging and friendship not offered at every school.
Great teachers , leadership from East staff and wonderful community. Disappointed by lack of safety measures taken by school board.
though the senior class of 23’ went through a lot of ups and downs. the way it was handled was exceptional and i wouldn’t have it any other way. i had help of great support systems as well as my support at home. the only changes i would like to see is the seriousness of the safety of the staff and students as well as students class time being taken into account and ditching being taken mire seriously too.
East has a lot of teachers that are great people and great teachers. Safety is definitely a concern. Overall I had a good experience.
