Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- LCNNStratford-upon-Avon, UK6 contributionsWhat an amazing trip up to Edinburgh and to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. From the minute we arrived at the visitors centre to the Royal Yacht we had the most amazing time on board. We also had afternoon tea. What a joyWritten 9 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jennifer G16 contributionsLovely walk with good views. Definitely worth doing if you are in Edinburgh.
Not suitable for anyone who might struggle with uneven surfaces.

- Karen BFEdmonton, Canada523 contributionsEdinburgh's Royal Mile is a hectic, busy tourist centre, with loads of shops and cafes. Most of them are selling the same thing: t-shirts with highland coos on them, tea and scones, pints and chips. One is very much the same as any other. Prices also all about the same. That is to say, mostly expensive.
But you are sort of obliged to do it, so go ahead and see the castle (Stirling is better, iMO) and shop the shops, and if you like, walk on over to Dean Village, a charming little enclave of real houses and tenements where people really live. There are NO shops here - it's all about the architecture, and it's lively enough, but if you aren't keen on the scenery then stay over on the Mile. Dean Village is about 20 minutes away, walking, and it is a bit derelict with trash and smells and some run-down housing to go along with the 700-year-old charm.Written 3 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a very rainy day and we were all soaked so the starter of hot drinking chocolate was welcome and delicious. Jennifer taught us about how chocolate is made and where it comes from. The kitchen guide (French dude) was hilarious as well as informative. We really enjoyed our time here. The tasting afterward was delightful. We had a lot of fun.Written 6 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
