About
The London Dungeon, one of the UK’s most iconic attractions, has reinvented itself now as a bigger, bolder and better attraction in the vast underground vaults of County Hall on the South Bank, next to the EDF Energy London Eye. The all new multi-million pound attraction will bring 1000 years of authentic London history to life with a unique mix of talented live actors performing in scarily funny shows, stunning special effects, edge of your seat surprises and two exciting thrill rides. Guests will embark on a journey through a dramatic London landscape going back ten centuries. They will be guided through ghastly plague-ridden streets, witness Guy Fawkes’ dramatic plot to blow up Parliament, travel back to Jack the Ripper’s bleak Whitechapel and walk beneath London’s foreboding medieval gates. There are new shows and rides which are more dramatic and surprising than ever, new funnier scripts, more theatrical costumes and styling and more talented actors to play even more colourful villains and blaggards.

Address
Neighborhood: Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.

    Fantastic
Excellent back story, great costumes and environment. Staff were amazingly scary - the ones who didn’t need to be delivered great service. Some fun and screams in it. Don’t go if easily offended but it was a blast!
The Jester shall take those 5 stars and run! Perhaps you will return to us in the future for another venture into the depths of the Dungeon... Until then, the Jester shall yell your name through the streets of London in your honour 💀

Unexpected Highlight of our London Trip
My teenagers insisted we do this, so I booked it begrudgingly. I thought it would be silly or too scary. But it ended up being the unexpected highlight of our trip! My kids loved the experience and they were amused that I was picked on on at most of the stops, including being the person locked up in the courtroom as a witch. That scene was actually terrifying, but in a fun way. We enjoyed all of it, and I liked that my kids learned a little bit about British history during the visit as well. We also enjoyed the pub at the end of the visit - it was a good place to relax and laugh about our experience. We skipped looking at our photos at the end, but then I scanned the QR code later that night and loved the photos, so I purchased them online. It was well worth the 10 GBP they charged for the four digital photos. Don't hesitate to book this, especially if you have teens!
We think you have great taste and for this review King Henry would like to meet you to thank you personally....not often you get to meet the King. Remember to bow, he does love a good beheading and has sentenced people for crimes less than this. Come back and visit us again soon....IF YOU DARE 💀💀💀

    Picture imperfect
First off I want to say that the performers are all fantastic, scary enough for youngsters and witty enough for adults (one performer even commenting on how big my forehead was which I would have taken issue with if he wasn't right!). Overall the experience was great and the client I took to see it (I'm a care worker who was taking them out for the day) had an awesome time. For me, however, the experience had a disappointing ending as, in order to get to the photos we had taken printed off we needed a card with a bar code that staff handed out to guests. We weren't given a card, and when I told the staff at the printing station I was told as there were so many guests that day they'd be hard pressed to find our pictures. Odd, as I saw the pictures of me and my client on the preview screen. I was initially told to ask at the printing station but to not hold out much hope of getting the pictures by a young red headed girl. Who proceeded to look to go to the station she said I had to go to and engage in a social conversation, at one point even looking up at me with an annoyed expression. I asked another member of staff, who sent me to yet another member of staff who told me we couldn't get rhe pictures. The performers were great, the retail staff were appalling and made it really obvious they didn't care and wouldn't put the effort as it was an inconvenience. Waiting around to get shoed away delayed us in getting to our next activity, which was Shrek's Adventure, meaning my client missed out on part of his day out. Finish time for the dungeon and start time of Shrek were booked far apart initially, and the cross over between the Finish and start time of the two activities over lapped because of train delays, but we were waiting for well over 15 minutes waiting for someone to help us and missed the start of Shrek by less then 5 minutes. As I was working and wanted to try and get to my clients 2nd activity I didn't contest the dismissive attitude of the staff, who lied straight to my face about not being able to find the pictures when I could physically touch the preview screen they were on. I don't care they were chatting, I don't care if they thought my client having downsyndrome made him insignificant to them. I didnt contest because I was short of time. I am also a professional and take pride in my job, something the three members of staff (the red haired especially) clearly lack and was not going to call their attitudes out and distress my client. I am contesting now, as there vapidness has caused me professional emabaressement and it is unacceptable. I look forward to hearing from someone presently. Also, if you have the pictures I would like them printed off and sent to my clients mother, who made the booking and whose address you should have. Regards Jacob
3 stars! The jester is so happy to hear, they have promised to write a song especially for you. They might even perform it to the King if you change this to five stars 😏 😏 😏 We have responded to your email and would once again like to apologise for the disappointment. If you would like to reply to our email, we can get your photos sent to you and turn this negative interaction....INTO A 'ORRIBLE ONE!!!!

Excellent entertainment all round!! Not for younger children though, in my opinion
Excellent entertainment and quite educational, with lots of adult humour. Please consider the age of your children, should you take them. Parts of the tour are quite frightening for little ones, who don't understand, that it's just acting. Sadly, I saw at least two children both aged about 7/8 years, who were very frightened and crying. They had to be taken out. I hope they didn't have nightmares.
4 stars! Our Plague Doctor is pleased to hear it and has offered to remove your buboes in return for five stars 😏 😏 😏

Worth going and look out for 2 for 1 tickets
Many years since been to London Dungeon. Had more recently been blackpool dungeons and loved it. This was just as good. Boat ride to start was good. Some bits still same even after all these years and despite knowing what was coming still jumped. Acting was superb. Good 2 hour experience Drop ride was not working which was disappointing but did detract from the visit. We got 2 for 1 tickets as travelled by train so only cost £17 each so was worth doing

    Fun family activity
Had a fun time here- actors were very good and really got into the spirit. You do get picked on to get involved which was fun (and scary!). Were some very young children in our group who were scared and not tall enough for the 2x rides. Would say best for those over 10yrs of age.
4 stars! Dare you return and face the streets of Whitechapel once more? But beware, danger lurks around every corner….

    The darker side of London…
Great attraction, the actors really do make history come alive and give stellar performances. The level of detail is really good, and the interaction adds an extra layer of interest. The only downside was that the boat ride had been shut down and no advanced warning had been given, so I wasn’t aware until I was entering the dungeon and had already paid. Would definitely go again though!
How thrilling. Sweeney Todd would love to welcome you back to the Dungeon soon… perhaps for a haircut, or a shave… Sweeney is always slashing his prices 💀

    Not worth the price
I suppose at the end of the busy season some of the actors are a bit bored of it by now, and it shows. (The Witch and the Torturer were the best by far though - they made this 3 stars rather than 2) The real downside was the MASSIVE size of the groups. Far too many people in one group meant a lot of standing around and means you can't always hear or see what's happening. It also really spoils the interactive side of it. Blackpool Dungeon was a much better experience. It wasn't really worth the money paid, and the photos at the end were not very good and hugely overpriced.
Well, well, well… the Plague Doctor is pleasantly curious with your review… perhaps you can return to them for another check up so that they can discover how to make that 5 stars 💀 Our Dungeon is recommended for ages 12+ but allows for parental guidance if any of our younger traitors feel brave enough to enter. Some of our younger traitors can get scared but often many are having a thrillingly 'orrible time as the venture through with glee. Come back again soon if you dare 💀 Please send an email to ldguestexperience@merlinentertainments.biz to let us know more.

Loved this! We went with our two daughters who are aged 9&11. We were worried the 9 year old wouldn't like it but she did. The actors are amazing and, although it was very busy, they managed the crowds well. We were split into group of 20-30 people and it was great. Such a fab way to spend the time and well worth the money
5 stars! Huzzah my friend! The Conspirator thanks you for your schemes. Come back again soon for another venture through the cellars! But beware! The guards are everywhere 💀

I’m sure you can pack a COUPLE more people in…
Much like Madam Tussaud’s…far too many people in one go. Cramming people in to each area really spoils it, and the pace you have to move in order to get everyone through? Enjoyment down the pan! Good old Merlin operational model wins again! Get as much money as possible in as short a space of time as you can! That said…if you can stomach the battery-hen conditions, the attraction isn’t bad. The actors really give it their all (sometimes maybe too much all) and they make the attraction fun and interesting so well done to them all…well, most of them. It’s a fun recollection of some of london’s dark history. Minor point: because of the cramped conditions, can I recommend lockers so coats and bags can be stowed prior to going in? Might save some room so you can get a few more paying customers in at once… …you’ll probably get more eggs out of us then.
Sweeney Todd noticed a few whiskers on you. Come back soon for a 5 star shave! Please send an email to ldguestexperience@merlinentertainments.biz to let us know more. I don't know what you mean about eggs though

Visited as a family of 2 adults, 9yr and 13yr old.
This attraction has the potential to be brilliant but sadly when we visited it was a let down.
We walked around in a very large group and so this meant that we either couldn’t see or hear what was going on.
The setting is amazing and the actors try very hard but it was obvious they were exhausted.
We were constantly rushed from one room to another. A couple of times I heard the previous room actor starting her lines with a new group before the door had even closed.
When I could hear the actors I found them very interesting and entertaining.
I must say It wasn’t as scary as I thought it was going to be, which was great. I remember visiting the old location and this seemed a lot tamer. We had prepared our 9yr old but she soon learnt that when the light goes out something is going to make you jump.
My 13yr old was bored throughout and occasionally my 9yr old would whisper asking what was going on or what had been said. Perhaps if the group had been smaller the experience would have been different.
We weren’t told at any point that one of rides wasn’t working, if we had know I would have come back another day. We also didn’t see a cloakroom, it got very hot especially in the maze and I just wanted to sit down ( only a few rooms have sitting)
The size of the group really ruined our experience however I would recommend if you are visiting off peak and have a discount voucher.

Thank you for your review. All rides are subject to availability, and sometimes our rides do have a technical issue which, may happen while your tour is in progress, as we do put up signs up at our front of house area. Sorry to hear our attraction wasn't your cup of tea. We thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear you escaped the streets of Whitechapel!

I bought fast track tickets - £112 for 3 kids and 1 adult. We arrived and were sent inside straight away, but then ended up queuing for nearly 30 minutes outside the bathrooms, crushed in with loads of other people in the semi darkness. When the tour eventually started, there were so many people packed into the room, it was really unbearable. The actors were ok, but made no provision for ushering kids to the front while 6’ plus, 20 stone men stood in front of everyone totally unaware. It was mildly scary - my 8 year old found it terrifying, while my 9 and 11 year olds did not find it scary at all. There was a lot of moving between sections with no real help or directions about where to go. There was also a lot of standing around waiting for different bits to start. Didn’t help that it was almost completely dark. It would have been better if there was some info like ‘this is how the corridor would have looked in (wherever) in (whatever date).’ At then end, the guide insisted the minimum ride height was 1.45m instead of 1.4, so it meant all 3 kids couldn’t go on it. The whole experience was pretty annoying and definitely not for the claustrophobic.

We visited the London dungeon today august 15th 2020. We were really excited!
We got in and headed off to a great start, really fun, the actors were great and the special effects made felt wicked. But after only 40 minutes our trip was over. This is where I feel very Mis lead and disappointed. The website states you get a 90 min tour and specifies 2 rides. This is not true. It lasted 40 mins with only 1 ride being offered to go on. No mention of another, my son was very disappointed as the only ride available he wasn’t able to go on. The manager told me to my face that their website doesn’t state any off that information until I proved her wrong and she no longer wanted to engage in conversation with us. Coming from someone who works In the retail industry I thought that was very in professional on her part. I do have screenshots of the website information and the times we enter red and left are Also on my phone. Don’t be miss lead by the London dungeons. £92 for 4 people. Wasn’t worth that.

I actually thoroughly enjoyed myself more than I thought I would. The actors are always in character and I praise them for the 110% efforts. They all did a really good job.

I found the pub at the end to be a nice finishing touch. Reasonable prices on drinks and you could take your time and didn't feel rushed to leave.

They only negative thing I would say would be it can feel very cramped in with other guests. You of course have the inconsiderate people who barge pass you each time to run to the front of each section. Just don't let them ruin your experience!

We was really looking forward to coming to the London dungeons after reading the reviews on here. We pre booked our slots but still had to queue for 40 mins to get in and the groups we were put in thought was to many people as we were squashed together. The boat ride wasn’t working which was a shame as we was looking forward to that. It’s wasn’t scary at all my kids got bored only good thing was the ride at the end.

Thank you for your review, I'll let the Torturer know he's taking too long and to skip the thumb screw next time, As in busier times like February half term we can have a queue of up to 45 minutes. Decided to do the London Dungeon as the last time I had been to it was when it was still in the London Bridge area, so been a long time since my last visit.
The walking tour with the actors they did made it a little more interesting, but even with the small group was in, they still rushed us from room to room, and not really explain whats going on, or about the history of the period was in, so was a little disappointed about this side of the new experience, as the older version did a lot more to show the horrors of the time and show the different methods used when dealing with people at the time with punishments, and the life during certain periods of time.
Did the small boat ride which was fun, but the drop ride was not working at the time, but not mind that, as I don't like those types of ride and so would have skipped it anyway.
The actors they had seemed to be into what they were upto, but felt it would have been better to have an actor tour guide that would explain each era that they show from the Tudors to the Victorians.

Thank you for your review Traitor! Glad to see you were able to visit our dingy cesspit again, this time in the shiny Southbank! We're all about bringing history to life and we do this through the brilliant performances of our actors. More than any old museum, we take you on an immersive journey through London's past (with a bit more blood and pus that usual!).

Even as a miserable old git who hates this kind of thing, I found this attraction pretty good and value for money.

There is a queue and you have to go round as part of a group of other people which has a bearing on how much you'll enjoy it. If you have people who are a bit jumpy and scream a bit, it adds to the experience but if you go around with 20 something scouser lads with their girlfriends trying to be hard and saying "f#$k" every few seconds in front of children, it can spoil it and the staff can't do a lot without break character and spoiling the show.

The idea is to go to various rooms via dark corridors and experience whatever those rooms offers. Each room is manned by an actor who gives a 5 or 10 minute act before ushering you on your way through more corridors and on to another section.

It is dark and is scary and my 11 year old girl was very scared by the whole experience and was literally shaking and asking when it would be over. We could not see any exit points to cut short the experience and so all you can do is see it through to the bitter end.

To reiterate, it is very dark, loud and quite long. It seems to go on for a very long time and you can't go at your own pace. You have to experience the entire thing once started.

So, apart from my daughter getting seriously spooked, I came away thinking it was very well done and well worth the money.

Well worth the visit.

The actors were brilliant and made the experience as immersive as possible.

The boat ride into the dungeon and the seat drop at the end were thrilling and made the experience great value for money.

The whole experience took around 1.5 hours and ventured through some historic moments in London through the years.

If you can afford it, try and opt for the tickets online where you can get a great price for up to 3 other attractions.

Went to this for the first time as I was in London, and I’m glad I did. You go a tour with a group and it takes about an hour. There are different guides are each sections telling you a bit about London while dressed up and in character, and some give you a scare. There is a boat ride as well which is fun and the drop at the end is good as well. Don’t want to give to much away but it is a good day out. I got my tickets by buying a pass which gets me into a few different things which I would recommend as the Dungeons, Eye, Sea Life and sherk are all next to each other in a line so get to do them all.

We've been to London numerous times over the years and have never been to the Dungeons so thought we'd give them a try. Our 18 year and 11 year old sons and 9 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed it. Scary, funny, educational and entertaining.£169 for a family of five with anytime tickets did seem steep when booking on line but turned out to be worth it. The drop ride at the end is quite short so maybe another go would be good and we would of bought the photo of us on the ride but we weren't all on the same picture which was a shame.
