In Shaktimaan, the producer Mukesh Khanna played the role of superhero Shaktimaan and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar who was a photographer in a newspaper.

Bollywood actor and producer, Mukesh Khanna debuted in the film industry with the film Roohi in 1981. Directed by SU Syed, the film starred Zarina Wahab and Mazhar Khan in the lead roles. Mukhesh Khanna played the character of Prakash, the friend of Mazhar Khan in the movie. After doing brief roles in some unsuccessful films like Waqt Ke Shehzade, Dard-E-Dil, Captain Barry and Mujhe Kasam hai, the actor shifted his attention to the Hindi television industry. He debuted with the highly-rated and popular mythological serial Mahabharata in 1988. The actor played the role of Bhishma in the series and garnered appreciation for his commitment to the character. The critics and the audience appreciated his performance. It aired on TV till 1990. The actor now owns a YouTube channel titled Bheesm International. There, he openly expresses his views regarding the entertainment industry and shares his experiences in the film industry. The actor was last seen in the movie 3 Shyaane in 2011.

With the success of Mahabharat, the actor started getting lead roles in mythology-based serials like Vishwamitra and Chandrakanta in the following years. Meanwhile, he also started landing prominent roles in the hit films like Saugandh, Saudagar and Tahalka. The career of the actor which was thought to have reached its peak was still in the wait of a breakthrough. Taking the reins of his film career into his own hands, the actor produced one of the best Indian superhero series on television by casting himself in the lead role. The show was named Shaktimaan. The first episode premiered its first episode in 1997 and had a successful run of nine years on DD National channel. It concluded on March 27, 2005. His role preached the importance of discipline and the victory of good over evil. Producer Mukesh Khanna played the role of superhero Shaktimaan and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar who was a photographer in a newspaper. The show was followed by Shaktimaan: The Animated Series in 2011, and a television film titled “Hamara Hero Shaktimaan” in 2013.

The actor is now quite active on social media. Recently, the actor criticised the alleged selection of Ranveer Singh for the movie adaptation of Shaktimaan. He uploaded the video through his YouTube channel. He titled the video, Kaun Banega Shaktimaan.
