    Hello guys,

I am new to the forums, although I've been some blackberry phones along the way. Right now, I am using the Priv, which I absolutely love, and I've been searching lately for a way to pull up the Recovery Mode.

Now, I could see that most people say that it's been blocked out by Blackberry. However, I just kept trying, and I found out that by turning the phone off and then holding the Volume Up key + Power Button, you get an android lying on it's back with a red triangle over it.

Then, by holding the Power key and tapping the Volume Up key, it just gives you some status message at the bottom left corner.

Now, I am 100% sure that back in October I somehow managed to access the recovery mode from those screens, which allowed me to wipe the device or clear cache, but I went to sleep and did not note down what I did exactly to pull it up.

Once again I am interested on how one can do that, and although I don't find the combination right now, I just thought that maybe someone else did as well or at least to instigate others to try and maybe we'll be able to find it.

I apologize if I haven't posted this in the right section or something, I don't usually post on forums, but Blackberry is love / Blackberry is life.

Basically, you need to get to Fastboot mode first:

Press and hold both the Power and Volume Down buttons for 30 seconds to boot the BlackBerry smartphone powered by Android into fastboot mode. Alternatively, press and hold the Volume Down while turning on BlackBerry smartphone powered by Android and selecting Reboot into fastboot (when in fastboot mode, the PRIV will display the BlackBerry Bootloader Menu and a purple LED while the DTEK50 will display the BlackBerry Bootloader Menu with no LED )

I might be doing something wrong, but when I press and hold the Power + Volume Down button, it only gives me a couple of options:

    1. Barcodes
    2. Continue the bootup
    3. Restart in fastboot
    4. Turn off the device

Unless I'm wrong, this menu actually IS the fastboot. What I'm interested in, though, is the Recovery Mode, with the options to reset the phone to factory settings, wipe cache, etc.

You can't enter recovery mode without autoloader

I have done it before so I'm certain it is possible. I just can't find the key secvention that got me in a couple of months ago.

Have you tried doing it over ADB?

Just tried it. Typing adb reboot recovery takes you to the screen with the android lying on it's back. It doesn't recognize the device as connected either.
I'll keep working on it, but any help is welcome.

Hi Mircea - did you ever find out how to wipe the cache? I have an error message Unfortunately System UI has stopped..... and I am trying to get to the menu to wipe the cache ( but not do a factory reset yet) from a black screen. I only get my PRIV to reboot or turn off... but can't get to any menu that allows me to remove cache which I am hoping will help.

Welcome to CB !!!!! Post early and post often.

Unfortunately, the only real update, according to forum member and PRIV fan @the_boon would probably be a Key2 LE at this point.

I'm afraid so. The lack of any substantive in over two years would suggest that....
