Oliver Platt ( born Oliver James Platt ) is a Canadian-born American actor who is most known for his role as Dr. Daniel Charles on Chicago Med from 2015 until the present. She’s also appeared in ‘The Ice Harvest’ and ‘Casanova,’ the latter of which earned him a nomination from the Boston Society of Film Critics.

In 1988, Oliver James Platt made his cinematic debut as Ed Benitez in the comedy picture “Married to the Mob.” That year, he also starred in the film ‘Working Girl’ as well as in one episode of ‘Miami Vice’. He appeared in the films ‘Flatliners,’ ‘Beethoven,’ and ‘The Three Musketeers’ in the early 1990s. In the years that followed, he landed roles in films such as ‘The Impostors’ and ‘Dr. Dolittle.’ In the latter, he was nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for his performance as Dr. Mark Weller. Platt starred as Wallace Benton in the short-lived sitcom ‘Deadline’ in 2000 and 2001. He was cast in the serial political drama ‘The West Wing’ soon after.
In 2003, he joined the cast of ‘Queens Supreme,’ a courtroom drama. In 2005, he starred as an unhappy entrepreneur with a trophy wife and two stepchildren in the comedic thriller ‘The Ice Harvest,’ in which he became entangled with a friend who stole $2 million from a Mafia lord. In the years that followed, he appeared in the dramas ‘The Bronx Is Burning’ and ‘Nip/Tuck.’ The actor starred in the comedy series ‘Bored to Death’ from 2009 until 2011. During this time, he also played the “Man in Black Suit” in the X-Men sequel ‘X-Men: First Class.’ In 2010, Platt was cast in the series ‘The Big C’ as Paul Jamison. Two years later, he co-starred in the comedy with Leighton Meester and Hugh Laurie.
In 2014, he had recurring parts on the programs “Fargo” and “The Good Wife.” He debuted as Dr. Daniel Charles in the drama series ‘Chicago’ in 2015. He played Dr. Perez in the supernatural horror film ‘The 9th Life of Louis Drax’ a year later. In 2004, Oliver James Platt was cast in the television series ‘Huff’ as Russell Tupper. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award for his performance in the role, which he played until 2006. In 2005, he played the lard trader in Lasse Hallström’s romantic film ‘Casanova,’ in which he competed with the title figure for Francesca’s hand in marriage.
