Atem Mini - fade in key

PostFri Jan 15, 2021 4:58 pm

Hello there,

I got two inputs on my Atem Mini and keying via Chroma Upstream works really fine. The problem I have is I would like the keyed in video source to appear and not be turned off/on the hard way. So far I can only see the on/off but maybe there is a way to fade the video stream in?

so on HDMI1 I have the camera which films the greenscreen, on HDMI2 I got the laptop with the presentation. I could switch between those signals nicely, but fading in the keying is a hard on/off.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Daniel

You will need to use the ATEM software control for this. I assume you have set up your ATEM to do program / preview changes, not cut bus.

If I read your question correctly, you want the laptop display to have the chroma keyed camera input fade in on top of it.

This method mixes between just the laptop display and the laptop with the camera on top. Since the laptop is in both inputs it maintains a constant brightness and the camera appears to fade in over it (chroma keyed).

Select the laptop (CAM2 unless you have renamed it) as the program

On the preview section bottom left select CAM2 as the next source (will turn green).
On the next transition section top middle click on key1 (will turn yellow)
On right hand column in Upstream Key 1 section, click on the chroma tab then set fill source to camera 1.
In the transition style section bottom middle, click on mix if not already glowing yellow. Alter the number in the rate box to the time in seconds to do the fade.

Now you can press the auto button on the mixer, or click on the auto button in the transition style section in the software.

Pressing auto again defaults to reversing the process so the camera will fade out leaving just the laptop.

Regards,

Tim
