Reviews
- It’s been over a year since “No, No, No b/w Nobody Sees Me Like You Do” got put on streaming services, so hopefully Chimera puts out the record reissue sooner rather than later!
- really nice pressing. def an underrated album. i would highly recommend you listen to this album first before diving into her more experimental music. printed sleeve is nice, but besides that the packaging is standard. definitely would recommend.
5/5 - [This Album Has Meaning and Is Of Interest for One Reason and One Reason Only.]
I got on the school bus one morning as a kid and sat down in the front passenger side seat, and this older kid named Joey who sat behind me said, "Hey, did you hear about John Lennon?" I said no, and he said, "Somebody shot 'im. He's dead, man." The first thing I thought was, "Why in the heck would anyone shoot John Lennon?" It was baffling and very sad to me.
I remember the controversy around this album cover, and even though I was only 12 years old it really stuck with me. I always wanted to hear the songs, even though I regarded what I knew of Ono's music as more performance art than anything else. So in 2022, I finally listened to it start to finish.
Look, she can't sing. Everyone knows it. It's like my mom made a record.
The songs aren't exactly amazing, but they are performed and produced well. A couple of them made my ears perk up a bit.
In the end, this is really a historical moment captured on a record. It's personal, and painful to listen to, and of all the stuff I've seen and read about John Lennon's death, these songs took me back most authentically and effectively to that moment on the bus when I was just stunned at the brutality and cruelty and madness of human beings. I really can't say how other people should regard it. It's kind of beyond criticism (which hasn't stopped a lot of people from trying). - i am incredibly happy to have found this album for $5.
I used to be in the crowd that though Yoko broke up the beatles, but I read into it and learned more about the band as a whole, and became deeply interested in Yoko and John’s solo work. - Absolute masterpiece, without a doubt Ono was the most artistically relevant artist associated with/in the Beatles.
