Printmaker, illustrator, painter and writer, born in Fenton, Staffordshire, her father being a Jewish tailor. She arrived in London in 1925 and studied lithography, her favourite medium, at Central School of Arts and Crafts. Became involved in East End life, an active Socialist and member of AIA and freelance artist, writer, lecturer, designer of stained glass and crockery for Wedgwood. Was involved in government information service in World War II and married Elwyn Jones, later Lord Chancellor, when he was reading for the Bar. She was described as “a Bohemian in the heart of the Establishment”. Although Lady Elwyn Jones, she remained a propagandist for many causes. Her son, Dan Jones, involved in social and youth work in London’s East End, also painted.
