- D BState College, PA3 contributionsThe Cahoon is a gem. We were able to see a stunning exhibit titled "Writing with Pictures," with artworks reflecting different elements of visual images, such as places and people Some of the art is whimsical, some dramatic, but all of it really interesting.Written May 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CapecodWashAshore2 contributionsI walk this place at least once a week, my wife and I really enjoy it but recently not sure what is happening but the trail maintenance sucks in places especially with trail connectors. Loaded with overgrown pricker bushes. Mowed trails are fine but the connectors again really suck, sorry. Maybe not enough volunteers. Need to get it together again??? - Jeffrey L31 contributionsWonderful small museum full of Coast Guard history and memorabilia starting with colonial days through the Life Saving Service to today. Staff are retired Coast Guard veterans who are very friendly and informative. Wonderful place to visit.Written October 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Keri C49 contributionsWe stopped in for the historical value of the library and were not disappointed. They allowed us into a more restricted part of the library where we could check out our ancestor's home and had access to so many historical documents and histories. I could have easily spent days soaking it all in!Written June 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Keren4 contributionsMy favorite gallery on the Cape! Stopped by this morning and it had a closed sign. Called from the parking and got recorded message that she closed the business last September.Written July 1, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MaryannF650Clarksville, TN1,455 contributionsA beautiful and serene visit with a group of seniors. Magnificent bronze statue situated by the John F. Kennedy Memorial. It was designed by Robert Shure and dedicated on June 25,2000. According to available literature, the statue focuses on the contributions made by Cape and Island veterans in the Korean War and is a fitting permanent tribute to their sacrifice.
The 8-foot tall bronze cast statue is mounted on a 3-foot tall granite pedestal and surrounded by five flagpoles flying the flags of the United States, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Republic of Korea, the United Nations and the POW/MIA.
There’s a lovely walking path with meditation benches. The names of all the Cape and Island Korean War dead are identified as part of the Memorial.
Don’t miss this place located at Veterans Memorial Park on Veterans Beach.Written July 14, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Be sure to look up operating hours and check out the story of the schoolboy who dipped his schoolmate's pigtails into an inkwell. The Barnstable Ghost tour starts here, too.Written July 23, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jonandruthCape Cod1 contributionMy wife and I had an opportunity to visit the Barnstable Historical Society’s beautiful 1832 house in Barnstable Village. We found the displays mesmerizing, to say the least. If you are at all interested in local maritime and village history, this stop is a must! From antiques and artwork, to ship models and early indian artifacts, this attraction has it all. The surrounding grounds have old stone walls, beautiful, mature trees and plantings, as well as a calm ambience so rare today. A true step into yesterday. We wanted to stay longer, but were eager to go up Route 6A to see the oldest wooden jail in America, also under the auspices of the historical society. This jail is said to have held two survivors from the wreck of the pirate ship Wydah, captained by Samuel “Black” Bellamy. We were not disappointed. If you get a chance, I urge you to take advantage of these wonderful windows into the past.

- Monophoto-1Saratoga Springs, NY373 contributionsWe've driven past the Coast Guard Museum in Barnstable many times, but decided to stop in on 'museum day' this year.
It's an interesting museum that informs a lot of history about the Coast Guard. And the docents can add much more information. Great place for a rainy day, but you won't need to spend a lot of time here.
Be careful with the stairs - the building is very old, and the stair rail doesn't meet current building codes!Written May 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
