Dolphins' Bradley Chubb, on injured cousin Nick Chubb: ‘I know he will be fine'

MIAMI GARDENS — Dolphins linebacker Bradley Chubb wasn’t watching live when his cousin, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, suffered a season-ending knee injury. Instead, Bradley went on social media and saw it in slow motion. And wished he hadn’t.

“It was pretty nasty,” Chubb told The Post on Thursday, referring to a play that ABC immediately chose not to replay Monday night.

“It sucks,” Bradley Chubb said. “It’s one of those things, it’s the game of football, you know? You love it and you hate it at the same time because of things like that.

“You’d never want to see that happen to especially one of your family members, somebody that you’re cool with and wanting to see succeed.”

Browns running back Nick Chubb is carted off the field after being injured against the Steelers.

The play left Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, a former Dolphins first-round draft pick, defending himself for making what he considers a typical football tackle.

“I’m not a dirty player,” Fitzpatrick told reporters.

Nick Chubb, 27, is a four-time Pro Bowl selection who faces a long recovery. Bradley Chubb is confident his cousin will handle it.

“It’s unfortunate for sure, but knowing the person Nick is and the guy that he is, he’s going to attack it head-on and I know he will be fine, just based off the faith that he has and the work ethic he has,” Bradley said. “He’ll be fine in the future. But right now, I mean, all you can do is kind of send him as much love as possible.”

Bradley said he messaged Nick.

“Just trying to show my love and my support,” Bradley said. “ … You never know what could change somebody’s day. So just trying to be there for him as much as I can.”
