DENVER (KDVR) — Evergreen High School was briefly evacuated on Friday afternoon for smoke that activated the building’s fire alarm.

Evergreen Fire Rescue reported at 1:36 p.m. that crews were at the high school, located on Buffalo Park Road in Jefferson County. All staff and students had been safely evacuated at that point, according to the agency.

FOX31 reached out to Evergreen Fire/Rescue and learned there was visible smoke from the weight room. Firefighters were on the scene and trying to locate the source of the smoke, however, no fire was found.

After investigating, fire crews said that equipment on the roof may have released smoke into the building. Classes were back in session shortly thereafter.

By 2 p.m., the students and staff were reentering the school.
