Nice park with about 100 sites but it still feels pretty small. Lake view sites are good. Most of the sites are a pretty good size. Pit toilets were cleaned daily. Enjoyed hearing boats of all kinds and size play on the lake.

I've been there twice this summer. Nobody on duty in entrance yesterday, the time before a very unfriendly woman that was OCD about telling me that my dogs had to ALWAYS be on leashes, no maps (for trails, parking, etc.) no trashcans (except the one at the park Exit. The waterpump I tried didn't work. The swimming beach is super tiny (max 10 people can use it without stepping on each other). Not dog friendly.
There is much room for improvement.

Pulled in after 6PM and no onme was on duty. Found a site near the bathroom (An outhouse) and close to the water pump. The water pump squeaked really bad when people drew water for cooking etc. I oiled it and got a great night's sleep! Primitive camping at it's best!

The noise of the motorboats in the evening is so loud you might as well be camping on an airport runway. Most Michigan state parks are gems and maybe this one is ok off season. But it is horrible in the summer. Motorboats are awful all day but beyond awful in the evening. Not a nice place to camp because of the motor scourge. Yuck.

this Muskegon River impoundment winds its way some 12 miles from just below Rodgers Dam outside of Big Rapids to what was the largest earthen dam structure in the the world, Hardy Dam.
in ever widening undulations the water flows steadily but slowly southward. dimpled with a myriad of coves, creeks and parks it makes for a pleasant afternoon excursion. river ridge marina located at 8 mile bridge has a fuel dock, launch ramp and trailer parking. while all manner of water sports are performed there, walleye fishing is the fish of choice. its one of the few places on the water where you can find a secluded spot to picnic or just relax.

But we won't. This is a great rustic campground that has some of the best, and I mean the BEST geocaches I have ever seen. So much thought, preparation, and execution went into them, they will keep you coming back for more. The park itself has large sites, with ample trees between them so you don't feel like you are right next to the next camper. The rangers patrol day and night to keep watch and make sure it stays a good family atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I enjoyed walking the trail in the park. It started in the boating access area parking lot and went through the campground, winds near the beach, and then follows the lake around. I actually spent over a half hour walking the trails.

This is a rustic camping spot. We like the beauty and walk along the shore in the woods on trails. We like going in the spring or fall when it's less busy. Pretty areas and the campground has a boat launch.

Great rustic sites. There is some hiking and disc golf. We did the hiking not golf. They have the pit pots and hand pumps for water. Not much swimming around and the water is pretty brown. Nice trees lining the campground. Sites are large enough for 2 big tents. No wood at campground so buy in the area before you get to the campsite.
