Dan Jurgens is a well-respected writer and artist in the world of comics, perhaps best known for the career-defining stories he produced in the '90s. Although he is responsible for the creation of many well-known characters including Booster Gold, Doomsday, and Hank Hanshaw, Jurgens might be best known as the creator behind the seminal "Death of Superman." Legions of fans, who were lucky enough to experience the event when it was originally released in 1992, still remember the story fondly.

The legendary writer was present at 2022's San Diego Comic-Con and sat with CBR to discuss a project he and other highly respected industry professionals are producing to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of his most famous story. Jurgens expressed his feelings about returning to the classic story, revealed some of the creators associated with the project, and hinted at some of the story details and characters involved in the tale -- including the newly created villain, who may be as powerful as Doomsday himself.

Death of Superman: Thirtieth Anniversary is coming soon from DC Comics.
