Baseball
Poquoson’s Max Fritts threw a one-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts in a victory over Bethel.
Princess Anne’s Luke Sweeney struck out 11 of the 16 batters he faced in a win over Green Run.
Norfolk Academy’s CJ Murray threw a complete-game shutout to lead the Bulldogs over Walsingham Academy for the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools title. He also was named the tournament MVP.
Granby’s Daniel Smith threw a two-hitter to help the Comets upset Maury 2-1.
Great Bridge’s Jett Verry threw a no-hitter to beat Bayside.

Softball
Sara Witt pitched a no-hitter as 2023 Class 3 state runner-up York upset then-No. 15 Tabb 1-0.
First Colonial pitcher Kate Beck reached 300 career strikeouts in a no-hitter vs. Bayside, while Kecoughtan’s Skyler Ackerman got to 300 during her one-hitter against Woodside.
Big-hitting efforts included Peyton Moran’s three home runs in Greenbrier Christian’s Metro Conference semifinal win over Atlantic Shores and Braelyn Bailey’s three hits and four RBIs, including a three-run home run, as she pitched No. 1 Grassfield to an 8-7 win over No. 2 Hickory.
Ellie Benes earned TCIS Tournament MVP honors by batting .833 in the event as Nansemond-Suffolk Academy defended its title with a 10-0 win over Cape Henry.
Greenbrier won the Metro Conference championship 9-0 against Broadwater Academy on Linda Hodge’s two-hitter with 13 strikeouts.

Norfolk Academy’s Luke Shinofield finished with four goals, including the game-winner with 12.2 seconds left, as the Bulldogs defeated Catholic for the TCIS Tournament title.

Girls lacrosse
Cape Henry’s Madeleine Keogh, the TCIS Player of the Year, scored the winning goal in overtime as the Dolphins rallied to beat Norfolk Academy 8-7 in the conference tournament championship game. Cape Henry’s Lylah Mellott scored four goals and Emma Hardy three.

Carson Danner scored a hat trick in the first half of Great Bridge’s 4-0 win over Oscar Smith.
Christian Robertson scored a hat trick in Menchville’s 5-0 win over Phoebus.

Norfolk Academy’s Addy Hennessy and Maria Delyannis scored goals in a 2-0 Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools Tournament title-game win over Steward.
Jashyla Johnson scored a hat trick in Kellam’s 7-0 win over Salem.
Maddie Leach scored a hat trick in Jamestown’s 8-0 win over Grafton.

Track and field
Grassfield’s Sophia Rambo ran 11.84 seconds — the fastest time in the state this season — to win the 100 meters at the Grassfield Invitational.
Grassfield’s Garett Boe cleared 15 feet to win the pole vault at the Grassfield Invitational.
Walsingham Academy’s Jeylah Hamrick set meet records in the 200 (25.08), 300 hurdles (43.97) and long jump (18 feet, 1¾ inches), and also won the 100 meters (12.23) at the TCIS championships.
Bayside’s Amari Noble threw 172 feet, 4 inches to win the discus at the Grassfield Invitational
Oscar Smith’s Jeryll Gaines jumped 22-2 to win the long jump at the Grassfield Invitational.
Boys tennis
Norfolk Academy’s Joe Hobbs was named the Player of the Year in the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools, and he showed why by winning the No. 1 singles flight and the top doubles bracket with No. 2 singles champ Julian Burke. Lucas Varverud won titles at No. 4 singles and at No. 2 doubles with Will Howerton.
William Katchmark won a third-set match tiebreak 10-8 at No. 1 to help Hickory shut out Grassfield 8-0.
Chase Taylor, Mael Poistrasson, Michael Fraim, Luke Fraim and Garrett Austin won singles matches as Kellam set a school record with its 12th victory of the year, beating Landstown 7-2.
Girls tennis
Joanna Jones won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 to help Kellam defeat Landstown 5-3.
Golf
Greenbrier Christian Academy won the Metro Conference championship tournament with a 315 as individual champion Macie Rasmussen set a women’s course record of 9-under-par 63 at Bide-A-Wee in Portsmouth.
