Brings back fond memories of Tanya as a teen!
I couldn't make up my mind between DEFINITIVE HITS and this CD, but because this one had both of Tanya Tucker's original hits, DELTA DAWN and THE JAMESTOWN FERRY, I chose this one. Besides it has her hits all the way back to 1972 when I first met her.I was fortunate enough to interview Tanya for The Gilroy News Herald which I edited in the early 70s. The interview was at a friend's ranch in nearby San Martin and was a memorable day. Since Tanya was only fourteen (or was it fifteen?) at the time, my children were invited too. Being still young and natural, Tanya was an easy interview, so I got a nice scoop. And the kids enjoyed getting to know her a little. The meeting/interview was held at the time that Tanya's debut hit, DELTA DAWN, was climbing the charts and THE JAMESTOWN FERRY was just taking off. As was traditional in those days, Tanya gave me and the kids autographed studio photos as mementos. I framed mine for the newspaper office, naturally, and later hung it on my "Brag Wall" in my home office.Sorry to digress, but I enjoy "living in the past" from time to time. LOL.As a country-western fan I enjoy all the songs on this album, but the two mentioned above are my all-time faves by Tanya ... for sentimental reasons. No matter how much Tanya Tucker changed in later years, she remained a major talent. I recommend all her music very highly ... and her "reality show" is fun to watch, also. It's a treat for me to see her in later years and get to know a little about her children. Keep rockin', Tanya!Reviewed by: Betty Dravis, 2008The Toonies Invade Silicon Valley

THIS IS A WOW!!! These 48 hits cross five labels.
Here is 150 minutes of HIT music that includes 40 top tens,
6 top twentys, 1 top forty hit, and a Tucker classic from 1972.
This is an incredible amassing of Tucker's hits
spanning her 25 years on the country chart.

Tanya Tucker's career started in 1972 at the age of 13,
when her first release "Delta dawn" landed at #6.
She continued with major hits over the next twenty-five years,
from 1972 through 1997 Tucker had 65 songs make the country chart.

Since this set contains so many major hits,
it's difficult to say what stands out.

So I'll just mention the songs that went to #1:
1. "What's your Mama's name".
2. "Blood red and goin' down".
3. "Would you lay with me (in a feild of stone)".
4. "Lizzie and the rain man".
5. "San Antonio stroll".
6. "Here's some love".
7. "Just another love".
8. "I won't take less than your love"
9. "If it don't come easy".
10. "Strong enough to bend".

Having said that, it's relevant to mention that some of her best
toe tapping songs were not #1 hits, but are perhaps just as well loved.
Here's a reminder of a few of them.
1. "Texas (when I die)".
2. "Pecos promenade".
3. "Can I see you tonight".
4. "I'll come back as another woman".
5. "Love me like you used to".
6. "Call on me".
7. "Down to my last teardrop".
8. "Some kind of trouble".
9. "It's a little too late".
10. "Hangin' in".
One last song to mention, though it never had a chart number
it has nontheless become a Tanya Tucker classic.
Included here, is to my mind one of Tuckers best, from 1972, "The Jamestown Ferry".

Raven label from Australia has done a wonderful job producing this 2002 compilation.
The extensive sixteen page liner booklet conveys well the Tanya Tucker story.
Presented completely in color the booklet includes
several nice pictures of Tucker over her career.
The track listing also gives the chart position number.
The c.d.'s themselves are blue and white.
Disc one has a nice pose of Tucker eariler in her career, sitting on the ground.
Disc two shows her sitting in the snow holding a polar bear.
The sound quality is excelent.
This double c.d. set is definitely the one to get!

Footnote: Among the 17 charted songs that were not included in this collection,
eight entered the top forty.
Those songs are -- "I beleive the South is gonna rise again" 1975 -
"Spring" 1975 - "Greener than the grass we laid on" 1975 -
"You are so beautiful" 1977 - "Love knows we tried" 1981 - "Daddy and home" 1989 -
"Between the two of them" 1995 - "Find out what's happenin'" 1995.
The other 9 songs charted bewteen #41 to #86.
Even the 58 track box set, with 4 c.d.'s is missing 29 of Tucker's charted songs,
although it is a great set with some VERY good albums tracks.

Have loved her music since she was a child. She can really sing. This collection includes songs that made her famous. Wish it came with auto rip but I will see if I can download onto one of my new devices after I get matters taken care of that consume my time. So out of step with the modern things even though I bought them. They can (once I learn how) download this cd collection. I just put her on my all unit function machine and listen to those great songs. They sound as good as they did the first time I heard them. I love them just as much and anyone who loves her style (or her singing) will really be proud to own these on cd. Sentiment still counted when these songs came out and even a lot of young people enjoy the heart tugging lyrics. Glad I was around when she came to be. I guess I am caught in a time warp? Some more up to date music appeals but none better to me than the old stuff. I do not refer to what is out there now in general but just to some that came after. SaraBeth

I've been wanting to get a Tanya Tucker greatest hits for awhile, but was put off by the price--and couldn't imagine liking 48 of her songs enough to buy this. I was only familiar with her super popular songs and was frustrated that the cheaper collections didn't have all the ones I wanted. So I eventually decided to bite the bullet and buy this CD to make a playlist of my favorites and edit out the rest.

But then I started listening....and kept adding more and more songs to the playlist until I realized how great this collection is. Tanya's voice is incredible and she has such a talent to bringing the stories to life. Plus the songs have such hooks that it's hard to stop singing them.

The audio quality is fine as well--so I highly recommend this CD.

No questions, hands-down, this is the ultimate for Tanya Tucker fan's CD collectors. The woman was a total BEAST on the charts for over 15 years. Few have had the success that she can claim. Her rich, mellow and soulful mezzo soprano owns every song. She can subtly steal a ballad with raw emotion in voice or she can get you up and dancing. Her voice and her range is She is one of a kind, and if this won't convince you of her legacy to modern music, you aren't worth convincing. All or most of your favorites are right here.

The album, the upper 48 is terrific.I had forgotten how great a voice Tanya has.It is a shame that she didn,t and still doesn't get enough air time. If a person likes country music then this an album for you. You get a touch of her soul and her voice is in a class by itself. Again,a very great album.I hope she can still put out the records in the future.Love Ya Tanya Jim

After all these years Tanya is still my favorite female singer, so I'm glad i bought this cd with most of her hits. What makes me especially glad I bought this cd are the songs I rarely heard until I bought it, like, Ridin Rainbows, I'm the Singer You're the Song, and Dancin the night away.

Delta Dawn、Love's The Answer、Would You Lay With Me、Lizzie & The Rainman、San Antonio Stroll、私の結婚式に流したStrong Enough To Bend、今でも何回聞いても大好きなTwo Sparrows In A Hurricane
