- Orator11Singapore, Singapore7,333 contributionsIt has been around ten years since our last visit and we were keen to see the exhibitions. Then, there was a wonderful exhibit showcasing the terracotta warriors.
It was an interesting sight to see the building, which is in the shape of an old imperial wine cup traditionally used by the Emperor.
Unfortunately, this time, three of the galleries were closed, and the exhibit on Leonardo da Vinci had just ended. Nevertheless, they still had similar galleries showcasing the clothing and jewellery of the minority groups in China, as well as calligraphy and Chinese paintings. We liked the wooden furniture exhibition.
All in all, we spent on,y an hour here this time, due to the gallery closures.
Entry is free via a QR code, and you need your passport. You can register at the booth outside near the souvenir store, and entry is then further round the corner at the southwest entrance. The nearest Metro exit is number 1, and the museum is closed on Mondays. There is another branch of the museum in Pudong.Written May 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The posters were engaging and interesting to watch. You can easily spend and hour here. There is also a good museum shop where you can even buy original posters.
Finding the museum was a bit tricky. It is located between two banks on Yannan road.Written May 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Wish I had been sooner and had taken visitors. The model of Shanghai is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. Great rainy day, or bad air day activity.Written April 9, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jokejongSingapore, Singapore67 contributionsVery pleasant. Newly renovated. Not suitable for young kids, lack of interactivity and designed for teenagers and above who enjoys history. Conveniently located near an mtr station. The narrative was simple to follow and clear. Language in English was excellent. Overall pleased with the experience. I spent about 1.5hr inside.Written October 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada7,272 contributionsWe came to M50 on the weekend and it was not too busy. There are lots of exhibits you can walk in for free and see artists at work. The area also has many cafes and a few restaurants but none were overly appealing.Written April 3, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jonathan TSingapore, Singapore19 contributionsI honesty did not know anything about world expos, let alone the Shanghai World Expo. The museum however was very aesthetic and I had a pleasant time learning about the history of world expos, how the expo areas were constructed and designed as well as the significance of the event. About 1/3 of the museum is dedicated to Shanghai World Expo. However it is pretty easy to cover most of the museum in an hour or two. I would recommend dropping by the newly opened Table Tennis Museum that is a stone's throw away and can be covered under an hour. PLUS both museum visits are FREE!Written December 4, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Emilee RipponPerth, Australia11 contributionsSome very cool cars here! My partner was happy with the diversity of cars; we visited the Beijing Auto Museum in October and thought there was more diversity in cars at Shanghai but less in numbers / exhibits. Equally as interesting to visit though! The museum is part of some kind of transport district so it was cool to see some autonomous vehicle testing and other interesting EV information too. It was about a 50-minute drive out of where we were staying near the Yu Garden but if you have the time, it's a cool museum!Written December 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - autumnjune729Singapore, Singapore234 contributionsExterior of building is an iconic photo spot. Entry to museum is free, exhibits inside not very impressive but the gem of the museum is the 3D motion art of the famous Chinese painting 清明上河图。 Enjoyed this part tremendously but the rest of the museum is quite passable.Written October 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IvO12 contributionsOf the many fantastic galleries in M50, I was specifically touched by LWH Gallery. The art there was outstanding. Several pieces kept my glance for a very long time, most of all the work of Chatchawan Rodklongtan. The way the owner (I guess he was the owner?) of the gallery told us the story behind the artwork was also inspiring. He really took his time for all our questions and didn't mind that I just kept staring at the artwork. Thanks you very much for introducing me to your world of art.Written May 15, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
