    A magical garden
We went early May, after the cherry blossom had finished and before the main flower areas were in bloom bush it was still a wonderful visit. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the whole are was immaculately kept. The poison garden was a must and did not disappoint as did the fountain area. The main water cascade was magical. All in all a wonderful place and my only criticism would be that there could be more seats around the central grass area and the cascade for the older ones.
Hi Bruce, Thank you for taking the time out to leave us your excellent review and kind words. We are absolutely thrilled to read that you found the team helpful and knowledgeable and the garden immaculately kept. Simply amazing!
Stunning gardens whenever you visit. Blossom trees filled the area with hues of pink and even the fading daffodils gave a great idea of how they must have looked in their glory. The water features were stunning and the ones in the “maze” were simply fascinating. Lovely to stroll around and enjoy and then visit the cafe for a coffee and the shop for a souvenir
Hi Janet, Thank you for taking the time out to review us and leave us an excellent rating. We are so pleased to read that you had such an amazing experience, the water features are stunning and fascinating. We are looking forward to welcoming you back to The Alnwick Garden again in the future.

    Lovely fountains
Came here about 5 years ago. The fountains are amazing, and the walks and views lovely, but felt that the wider garden areas were shabby and unkept, particularly disappointed in the walled garden. Reception staff member very abrupt and could do with some customer care training. The cafe was shabby, staff poorly trained and had to have paper cups, as no clean cups available. Choice of food was poor and loads of dirty crockery everywhere. Felt like it was not as good as it was a few years ago.
Hi Anne, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review about your recent experience at The Alnwick Garden. We are disheartened to hear that certain elements of your visit were disappointing. This standard is not typical of us. Interesting but overpriced.
This was our first visit to Alnwick gardens and it cost £34 for the two of us. Thought it a little expensive, shop area and food was okay, gardens themselves was fun and easy to get around and plenty of space to wander and take photos. Poison garden was interesting, Overall Good day out but overpriced, would like to visit to watch the seasons change but we live too far away.

Went to Alnwick gardens as we live close & my wife wanted to see the cherry blossoms. Its the first time i have been & i was blown away, what an amazing place! We cant wait to go back, the blossom orchard was beautiful and you can sit underneath on swing seats for hours if you wish, the rest of the gardens are beautiful and well maintained the water features are so pretty & the poison garden is very interesting i never knew there were so many dangerous plants! The staff are also very helpful and friendly i really cannot fault the Alnwick garden at all its such a beautiful and peaceful day out

    Great day out
Another beautiful day in the gardens, which are beginning to come to life with fabulous tree peonys, iris & wisteria. The poison garden tour is always interesting & seems to change each time - you are given an insight into different plants & their dangers. And, of course, there is the Grand Cascade, where kids love dodging the water jets, plus all the other water installations in the garden.
Thank you for your very detailed review and kind words. We agree, it is always worth visiting more than once, as there is always something new and different on the tour to learn. The whole team are looking forward to being able to welcome you back to The Alnwick Garden again very soon.

    Enjoyable couple of hours
We used the gardens 241 voucher so for 2 adults and 2 children (free entry) we paid £17 which was reasonable. We also paid £17 to do the golf. We all enjoyed the gardens. Particularly the poisonous garden, the cherry orchard and the water fountains. It’s helped that the sun was shining

    So much to see
Everything here is on a grand scale. The poison garden gets attention, and it is quite interesting. But the brushed steel water sculptures are breathtakingly lovely and the cascade of fountains magnificent. Planting in the area above the main fountains is fabulous. Also loved the orchard of cherry trees (still in blossom when we went) and the two/three person swings everywhere in it. Spent hours here.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We are so happy to read that you enjoyed your time here. We agree, the sculptures in the Serpent Garden or breath taking and can be mesmerising. We are thrilled that you got to visit The Cherry Orchard when in blossom, it is lovely to spend a quiet moment there on the swings. We really hope to be able to welcome you back to The Alnwick Garden again in the future.

    Anniversary Break
Wonderful gardens to stroll through. The Cascade with its Jets was stunning to watch. We enjoyed the Walled Garden. The swings a lovely feature in the Cherry Blossom Orchard. A good 2 hrs spent here and it could have been longer

    Good day out
Beautiful gardens & water features. Was worth waiting for a tour of Poison Garden as guide very knowledgeable. Afternoon tea lovely, staff friendly & efficient. Car park attendant bit miserable but it was a very hot day - hope he found some shade!

We parked in one of the town centre car parks as it was free for the whole day and had a walk to the Castle, which we didn't fancy going in to as there were lots of coach parties and kids around, then we walked down the hill to the river and along the river bank where we got excellent views of the castle and back over the bridge, past the waterfall to Alnwick Gardens.
We had a 2 for 1 card on this trip which we got with Gardeners World, so we started saving money from our 1st property visited!
The gardens here are so well kept and beautiful and the tour of the poison garden adds an extra dimension. We also liked the treehouse and the fountains.

Visited post Hector so the garden had sustained some damage which was a shame. Beautiful day though and relatively quiet so able to enjoy a good walk around the gardens in peace. The poison garden is always a good tour to do, a timely reminder of the dangers lurking in our own back yard. It’s not all about belladonna you know. Love watching the fountains and the bamboo maze is awesome as the light changes outside. Highly recommended to flower lovers or people seeking just a little peace.

I first came to Alnwick when the garden was under construction and you couldn't go in. What a spectacular place in has become. Lots of water used, made it feel very calm. Very good tour of the Poison garden. Roses not quite all out but everywhere very well kept. Nice cafe not a huge choice, but able to sit outside and enjoy the garden. Friendly staff, very clean toilets. Castle and garden ticket means you can come again once registered. Free parking just in the town, which is also very nice. Full day out with the walk to the Castle

We went to the Castle first then strolled down to the gardens. There’s lots to see with the help of the map. Plenty of space for kids. You’ll need a whole day see both places. You can also walk into Alnwick as it’s so near the town centre.

We enjoyed our day here, the gardens are well manicured and carefully managed. The water features are very clever too.

We've been to more natural gardens, this did feel a little more like a manufactured attraction rather than a natural Victorian affair, but it didn't devalue the day at all.

Went for a walk around the gardens at the weekend and it is now looking quite spectacular. The whole garden is in immaculate condition at the moment and well worth a visit. We have a yearly pass which is great value. Great cafe here as well. An excellent way to spend a day.

Take the tour of the " Poison garden" its very interesting and as there are several guides so you don't have to wait for ages for the tour to begin. The maze also leads on to some interesting sciency water sculptures, great fun for smaller people on a hot day too i'm sure. The walled garden was lovely and I would love to go back and see the rose garden in full bloom. There are several places to eat, prices are a little expensive but you kind of expect it, there's a nice gift shop and a small crazy golf , this isn't a place to rush round take your time, relax and enjoy

We really enjoyed our time in the Alnwick Garden.

The guided tour of the poison garden was really interesting. The fountain area was nice, and there seemed to be a lot of children enjoying playing in the water.

There are great adult swings in the orchard area and a really nice rose garden too.

We had lunch in the Potting Shed, which is part of the Treehouse. We went back for dinner at the Treehouse Restaurant later in the week. That is something really special that I will review separately

Visited at 10am in the morning on a tight schedule. Made use of the free car park around the corner. The central water feature is impressive - watch for a little while to see array of spouts. There are other interesting fountains within the hedges to one side. It's well worth taking the 20 minute tour of the Poison Garden (only way to see this area).as it is very informative. There are quite a few interesting plants, but we caught the garden 'between seasons'. The Ornamental Garden should be quite impressive in a few weeks (end of July into August). All in all the garden is more architectural than a plantsman's garden. There is an interesting gift shop (attractive artworks) - insufficient time to try the on-site eateries. We toured the garden in two hours, three would have given full benefit.

Well worth a visit, a destination not just a stop off.

Lovingly cared for and excellently laid out.

The restaurants and shops on site are not overpriced tourist traps like you so often have to deal with. I would especially recommend the fish and chip shop.
