Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place to visit if you are looking for Italian cuisine at its best. Super fresh, high-quality local ingredients, great compositions, and tastes. Very good wine selection. We based our choices (pasta + meat dish) on the waitress suggestion, and it was totally worth it....Compliments to the Chef and entire staff who made our stay unforgettable.More

Il Sorpasso is great! You need reservations and and the servers at first may seem brusque, but if you are polite and don't mind a little chaos you will be rewarded with delicious food and wine. It is also fairly priced and the servers actually...are very friendly. Like the title says, we liked it so much we went there 3 times!More

This is a perfect spot to stop on your way from the Vatican back into the center of Rome. I have had the fortune to visit twice in 2/2019 and 12/2021. Nothing has changed! Still a place filled with more Italians than tourists and staff...isn't fluent in English - this is a great thing! Service was friendly - wasn't totally smooth, but the atmosphere and mood in the restaurant almost makes you not care as long as the wine continues to be poured! Off-season we were able to walk in right after the Vatican closed for dinner without a reservation with the understanding we only have two hours at the table. Try the chacuterie and whatever the pasta special is! This isn't a place that makes my *must* eat list but it doesn't disappoint either and it definitely isn't a tourist trap!More

Rude staff. We got there at lunch time and asked for a table inside as it was hot. The waiter told us the table will be ready in 5 minutes. They kept us standing outside on the pavement and 10 minutes later we asked if...the table is ready and the same waiter said 2 minutes without offering wait inside the restaurant or even sitting on the the empty bar. When we finally asked again, saying it has been 15 minutes since you told us the table will be ready. The rude waiter rolled his eyes and said I will say when the the table will be ready. The restaurant was half empty and there were many empty tables. Service throughout was unprofessional and disorganised. Food was as bad as the service. Never again!More

When you enter the restaurant you are privy to their carving station of 18-36 month old hams which you can order with a selection of delicious cheeses served with honey and fresh bread. Our waitress,Sonya, was the pinnacle of service, translating the menu into English,...anticipating needs (dividing dishes, extra plates etc) and making suggestions. (The Lambrusco sparking rose was perfect for a hot summer day). Between four of us we ordered two pastas and three salads. The food was divine and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Prati area.More

We came in close to closing time with the restaurant was very accommodating! Because we came in super late a lot of the dishes had been sold out but they were willing to make me a dish off the menu. We also had the beef...filet that was cooked perfectly. The food and price is really good. Highly recommended!More

Lovely meal here. The menu changes daily (or every couple of days) depending on what food is in season. The food was absolutely delicious. Three of us and we were all happy with the food. We shared three antipasta and then had our mains. The...white rabbit ragu was spectacular. Prices were more than reasonable. Service was outstanding. We would highly recommend and will go back.More

We had to eat at the tables on the street as the inside was full and we hadn't made reservations. Despite the chill wind we loved this place. I mis-ordered but was delighted with starter I didn't know I wanted! It was braised wild greens,...stirred through with a stock and crumbled polenta. Simple, seasonal and delicious. I also had a pasta dish with guanciale and, surprisingly, the star ingredient was carrots. The whole meal was delightful. When we went inside, there was a real buzz and atmosphere, even on a Saturday lunchtime. Families, couples, groups of friends. It had a great vibe and we really enjoyed it.More

First things first, the food was delicious. The waiter, however, seemed to have a very bad day and some spat with the cook. First it took ten minutes for us to be shown to a table that was ready for us, and in total the...person that was supposed to serve our table made it very certain not to smile. In the end I gave up and went in the restaurant to pay, where (unsurprisingly I left her no tip) she threw the receipt at me. As it was by no means provoked by us and we were on holiday with ample time, it was more amusing than annoying… hope she had a better day later!More

Everything about this restaurant is top quality. The service was friendly with excellent recommendations. The wine was a great choice by our waiter given the style we requested, and at EUR20 a bottle, great value. The ham & buffalo mozzarella was fantastic and the pasta...dish mains were also top notch. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.More

Great local wine bar. Good selection of wine by the glass. Started with a selection of meats and cheeses which were divine, then had an eggplant and zucchini lasagne and a steak. Friendly and efficient service, as usual. Very busy on a Friday night, in...October. Sat outside and enjoyed the evening.More

We visited Sorpasso Vin cafe' e cucina for a glass of wine and a snack, and we must say this place is great! Excellent selection of wines and snacks. It is a place that many wants to go to, and we were lucky to get...a seat outside. People were standing all over the street with a glass of wine, waiting for a seat. The employees are really service minded, and makes sure that everything is good. They even brings you some free snacks/tastings. The only minus is that we didn't spend enough time here. Looking forward to visiting this place again, when back in Rome. If you are looking for a cozy and authentic wine bar in Rome, this is the place! Highly recommend it.More

It is relatively expensive place. Food is nice but on the expensive side for rather simple plates. My pasta with butter and anchovies was beautiful and enjoyable but not from the other world. Bread was boring. Good that they offer tap water. Sparkling wine from...Pinot Noir was very good, 6.5 euros per glass. Outdoor sitting is more or less on the street. Seemed popular place with local.More
