Overall my experience at Belmont High school has been positive. Most if not all of my teachers have been excellent and I haven’t had any major problems with any of them. There are a lot of opportunities for electives at this school, one, which I am currently enrolled in, is a very unique class called Modern Band. Students in the class get together in small groups and plays a song of their choice. Some instruments that we use include the electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass, piano, synthesizer, and drums. It is my favorite class because there is a lot of room for creativity and it is mostly student-run, so there is more independence in this class than in any other. Another fun characteristic about Belmont High school that I enjoy is that every Friday there are therapy dogs for the students to sit with. One thing that I would like to see a change in is the opportunity for senior parking.
Belmont High School has amiable and responsive teachers and guidance staff that strongly encourages racial and opportunity equality. The school allows excellent freedom under safety supervision, including no dress code, free blocks, free eating space, permission to leave campus, etc. Providing students with 1 free breakfast and lunch, with rotating and changing menus throughout the weeks, but I dislike the fact that certain cuisines occasionally run low, and tables/couches/sofas around the school are sometimes not that clean. The view is absolutely phenomenal with a great view of the pond next to the school through the giant glass panes. AC is always at a nice temperature, and the airport-style bathrooms are sometimes messy, but they are often cleaned by the janitors. Overall a pretty positive experience.
My experience at Belmont high school has been mixed. As a student with a learning disability (ADHD), accessing the resources I needed for optimal learning was difficult. The guidance staff was overworked and so availability was slightly limited. The teachers were very kind and held high expectations for learning but they were nurturing and helped me grow as a student. The culture at the school is divided. There is a tremendous drive for academic excellence and or perfection, to get into prestigious universities and have perfect grades, test scores, etc.
