Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

The President Hotel garners high marks for its cleanliness, with the majority of guests commending the well-kept rooms and public areas, though a few have noted the bathrooms could be improved. The rooms are often described as comfortable with modern touches and scenic views, yet some guests mention noise and maintenance problems. Value-wise, the hotel's reasonable rates and prime location offer good bang for the buck, despite occasional letdowns in dining and room expectations. While the atmosphere is largely celebrated for its elegance and inviting nature, some believe there's room for enhancement. The service stands out positively, with many guests applauding the staff's friendliness and professionalism, though a handful have encountered less impressive encounters. Amenities are deemed adequate, with particular praise for the location's convenience and breakfast offerings, but some suggest that entertainment and play options could be expanded. Overall, the hotel's location is a hit among visitors, appreciated for its easy access to the beach, trails, restaurants, and city sights.

Reception and general entertainment area is beautiful with a great view of the ocean, but that's were it ends if you book a mountain facing standard room. The room is very boring and bland in style, it is very basic with minimal comfort. If you are a light sleeper you'll have a problem as you can hear everything in the rooms around you from people walking around to people speaking as well as other showers and toilets flushing. The hotel restuarant is very expensive and the food is not worth the price in terms of taste. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

This hotel is located in a very central location, Bantry bay and by the beach. Service is great and meals were delicious.
We were put on the ground floor with poor view of the water even though we paid for a room with a view and the ground floor was noisy, we had to request to be moved to a better room and we were moved to the 5th floor which had a better view and was quiet.

This hotel continues to provide great service, spectacular location and value for money unparalleled in the Sea Point/ Bantry Bay area. Staff were very attentive and really good with kids. Playground/ jumping castle was a hit with kids in the group. The food was really good overall. Rooms were tidy, had fantastic views and were very comfortable. We will certainly return in the future.

This hotel has an excellent location in Bantry Bay, a short walk from the beach. I had a large room at the corner of the hotel on the 5th floor, so had the benefit of both the sea and mountain view from the large windows in the bedroom and the sitting room. The decor in the room is slightly dated and could do with some improvement. There is a great view of the swimming pool and deck overlooking the sea in the distance. The restaurant serves very fresh fish, and the staff are friendly. The only problems were the electricity cuts (load shedding) at different times of the day, so one needs to make sure one is not caught off guard. A very helpful Guest Experience host went out of his way to sort out my problem.

This stay was for a women’s conference. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable. Upon arrival our room had two twin beds placed as one. The staff was helpful in separating the beds and changing the bedding to match. The buffet breakfast offerings were absolutely delicious, with many choices to please all tastes. The lunch and dinner menu had a wide variety of choices. The only complaint I would have was the slow service, yet that seemed to be the norm in the area. The food was tasty and cooked to order. Housekeeping provided fresh water bottles to the room each day. There was a kerug coffeemaker, microwave and mini-fridge in the room. Our room had a view of Lion’s Head Mountain, and with darkening drapes, we were not awakened too early in the morning. The hallways were very quiet. The grounds were maintained beautifully, with a gorgeous pool area and view of the ocean from the pool and lounges. The bar seemed to be a hot spot for locals to catch the local sports games. There are many lounging areas to enjoy the view and some quiet. The location is a two-block watch to the Oceanside one direction and the same in the other direction to many eateries. A short Uber drive to downtown tourist spots. If I was in the area, I wouldn’t hesitate to visit this hotel again.

I visited the President hotel for 8 days in December 2019. The hotel is very clean, service of employees very good, breakfast delicious and a great varity. Rooms look better than on the pictures. Pool a nice place to stay and one of the biggest compared to other hotels in the city. I don’t recognize all the bad comments about licals visiting in the wkend against payment. I noticed that the employees let locals wait to enter the pool area when it was quite busy so I think that’s the hotels new policy based on the bad comments. The area is very safe to walk around and there are lot’s of little restaurants around the corner. I lost my nightgown in the laundry and the staff put everything into chasing it and finally returned it to me. I would definitely stay here again.

Loadshedding led to a uncomfortable hot temperature in the room with fridge not cold enough. No power points or 2xpoint plugs in sleeping room. For a R 4 200 price tag, one should also expect a seperate bath and shower area..

A excellent location and a well serviced hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful and a pleasure adding to the overall experience. Facilities at the hotel are well maintained and of a high standard, parking however was an issue during the day.

We stayed here during our first ever visit to South Africa. We absolutely loved our time at The President.

The room had amazing views, and was kept clean and tidy by the housekeepers. It was the perfect size for what we needed.

The buffet breakfast had an amazing variety of food so there was something for everyone - Cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, pastries, pancakes, cereal and more!

The pool area was small, not sure if it would be big enough during peak season, but during our visit it was perfect and never seemed over crowded.

We didn't have dinner/food there other than the breakfast, so I cannot comment on that unfortunately.

We found the staff very lovely, they helped us to book a hire car and were very helpful if we needed anything else.

Location was great, within walking distance of lovely bars and restaurants; The Grand Pavilion, Step Brothers and Mojo Market are a few that I would recommend.
Very easy to get an Uber to the V&A Waterfront, think it is around 15 minutes away and the Ubers are very reasonably priced.

We will definitely stay at The President again when we return to Cape Town.

We have always enjoyed our staycations at the President Hotel and even when things don’t quite go to plan the team rally round to overcome any difficulties.

We arrived on Friday for a short stay over a perfect Cape Town weekend. The hotel is shielded from the hectic South Easters and is a great place to spend a few days lying round the pool and soaking up the sun.

The rooms have recently undergone renovations which most would be unaware of as noise is kept to an absolute minimum. We did however had a little chuckle when we were escorted up to our room only to arrive at an incomplete renovation.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

An hour later we were checked in to a corner 1-bedroom apartment on the 4th floor, which exceeded our expectations. Then later that day a hand written card arrived with an apology and a bottle of red.

A BIG thank you to the entire President team for taking great care of us.

We look forward to our next stay on the 25th December 2020 and having Christmas lunch with you.

The hotel has plugs for European plugs, but only one in the room. Other plugs are specific for SA. I recommend to get cheap ones from Amazon. Not sure if the hotel has plugs for guests to borrow.

as long as you pay with a credit card you will be covered, but maybe not through an email, go direct to the website to pay, never click a link in an email if you are even slightly unsure.
