The Newman School offers students in grades 7 through 12 exceptional preparation for college and university along side peers from around the world. Located in Boston's prestigious Back Bay neighborhood, close to universities, Newman offers the highly regarded International Baccalaureate program. Newman's motto, Cor ad Cor Loquitur, "Heart speaks to heart" sets it apart from other Boston Schools. Our caring community has a world-class faculty, dedicated to developing life-long learners.

Newman students are engaged in the process of becoming educated adults and global contributors using an enriching learning environment in one of the world's greatest cities, Boston.

Sports include basketball, soccer, tennis, cross-country, baseball, crew, and sailing. Students can also pursue sports for credit outside of Newman's offerings such as ballet, swimming, figure skating, and more.

Having been to Newman for two years as an international student, I would say that the dorms were not the best when I first came. There were some improvements this year, but the food is still horrible, and the dorms are packed, old, and small. I heard there are molds in student bedrooms. The school pours all the money into funding the basketball team and sports. Some teachers don't properly follow the IB curriculum and do not adequately prepare us for exams, but there are amazing teachers who know the IB curriculum very well. College prep was not that effective, club time is very limited. Most students are not that ambitious, some are very laid back and refuse to attend class or participate in clubs. This is definitely a cliquey school, so it's difficult to find your group of friends if you're not that sociable. The administration cares more about the money than the students' well-being. They don't give out that many resources for you to succeed in academic competitions or anything.

Review The Newman School

The Newman School has been a wonderful, welcoming and delightful experience throughout all the years in the school. Going there has been fun and interesting. Fun because all the people there are kind and welcoming and interesting because I feel I learn so much everyday. I have read the negative reviews and I don’t understand at all. Maybe it has just gotten better in the past years. The staff are always so kind and supportive, the teachers are highly qualified and trained from top colleges. They strive to help us and to incorporate Boston in our learning, though we don’t go out every week in class, we might refer to architecture and go to trips around Boston, for example. The school also offers so many clubs and opportunities, this is how you meet people in other grades! I know almost everyone in the school and I am friends with several students in other grades, it is truly wonderful. All in all, this school is amazing, I’ve had a wonderful experience and the IB is a great opportunity.

I went to the Newman School for 5 years, I was there since 8th grade. I never liked it because it did not have a good administration or teachers. The school was very small and it was very selective with the people that they chose. It was not a good school overall.
