El Cid La Ceiba Beach Hotel is often praised for its cleanliness, with guests commending the meticulous housekeeping. The hotel's location is celebrated for its convenience for divers and proximity to town, although the noise from cruise ships can be a downside for some. While the staff's friendliness is a highlight, service speed may dip when cruise ship passengers are present. Guests enjoy the snorkeling and pool facilities, but opinions on the value are mixed due to additional costs for certain amenities and the rooms receive varied feedback concerning their condition and decor.

It is hard to put into words how wonderful it was to return to El Cid again this year. We visited Dec. 21 - Jan. 11 and when you walk in you feel at home. You are greeted with warm smiles and an anything we can do to help attitude from the front desk to housekeeping and maintence to the complete restaurant staff you can't help smiling. Nearly all of the rooms face the beach and water with full to partial views and a very comfortable bed(s). If you need something special, reach out to any of the housekeeping staff and they will get it done. There is wifi throughout the property, a newly equiped exercise room and some special, very enjoyable dinner/entertainment options a few nights a week. A Mexican buffet and dance performance one night and a Myan fire dance show on another. There isn't enough space to name and give accolades to all of the wonderful staff members you will encounter. They are the heart and sole of the resort which is why we and other travelers visit year after year. We love them all!!

My husband and I just returned from a great week at El CID. As you can see we love it here, with it being our 6th visit. The rooms are clean ,spacious and have everything that you need. The beds are very comfortable. They also have a pillow menu for you to choose from for extra comfort. The hotel is right where to cruise ships dock. This is another reason we come here, watching the ships pull in and seeing them at night is something to see.
The location is good with shops around and about a 10 min taxi ride into town
Now onto the staff.
They are very accommodating and will do whatever they can do to make your vacation perfect. Andres the Hotel manger is very visible and walks around to make sure the guests are doing well.
Ester is at the front desk and is there to help in anyway she can
When you see the staff , they smile and always say hello when they walk by ,and for us, this is important
The food is very good. They have a buffet and if you desire they have a menu. They have different all inclusive packages you can purchase for what you would like that fits your stay
My husband wanted to do his open water dives here to complete his padi because he talked to the dive shop last year when he was there. He booked with Louis for his dives. He was very impressed with his professionalism which in turn helped him feel relaxed.
We also went out snorkeling every day right infront.
The hotel also offers plenty of tours for you to purchase , including snorkeling and dive packages
If your looking for a hotel that still has that personal feel then this is the place for you.
We highly recommend this hotel and will be back in the summer again
Thank you again El CID for a great vacation and making us feel like family

The resort & the employees were very nice. However, I thought it was ridiculous that without the HIGH-pressure timeshare presentation we were charged extra for internet /wifi, to me in these days of covid you would be happy to have any customers at all without trying to nickel and dime them to death, especially the opportunity to have wifi! So without taking the presentation we did not have wifi except for paying $50USD a week for one device, (there was a total of 4 of us in 2 rooms) we will never stay at your hotel again, and not to mention the fact that if we were to pay that additional $200 for the 4 of us we would have lost that ability the minute we left the hotel anyway and would have had to pay additional fees to our wireless carrier on top of your fees. My son and his girlfriend wanted to do the all inclusive option for one day and were told they could not because they did not go to the timeshare presentation!! Also too was the markup of extra excursions and jeep rentals, we got a really nice jeep rental for $40 less than you were offering it for and other excursions by just doing due diligence and researching our options on the internet that we did not have in our rooms(restaurant hotspots and wifi away from the hotel) Not worth it.... We were glad that there were no ships in port as we were last year (Royal Palace) and could not see much past the ships in port, it would have been even worse had there been ships this year.

Love the feel of this resort. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Always a smile and they remember you. The restaurant is very good. There isn't anything I wouldn't consider ordering. It's right near the pier that most of the Cruise ships dock, but I actually find that interesting to watch them come and go. There's a mall right across the street and you can walk to some restaurants. The downtown is about a $7 USD cab ride away and there's always cabs waiting. Lots of excursions and THE best diving. Onsite diving and snorkeling. In fact, there's a small sunken plane just off the beach. Always feel safe on the island no matter where we are. Don't miss the Tequila tour with the Mayan Heritage village. They show how the Mayan's made chocolate and tortilla's with taste testing and ends with the Tequila tasting. The Mayan ruins are also a must see. We've been there twice. Once as part of another tour and although the site isn't very big, I didn't think we had enough time. Felt rushed. So we went back on our own. They have personal guided tours and we'd recommend seeing it that way.

My wife and I just arrived home last evening from a seven night stay, having never stayed at this particular El Cid location though we have been members of the El Cid Vacation Club the past nine years (of a 20 year paid in full membership where we 'enjoy' Club Platinum VIP membership). We have stayed at all their other Mexican locations 25 -30 times during this period. Jennie was the concierge person who called me a few days before our arrival to check on our flight itinerary so that their shuttle driver could meet us upon arrival. She asked if we were celebrating anything, and so I explained that my birthday was on the 20th. When we arrived she asked again, and when we told her she said she would do something special for me, which was what she had stated when she called. She (and the hotel) did nothing, made no effort. The same was true when we stayed at the Marina El Cid the previous January when I turned 70. In 2018 we stayed at the Marina El Cid for my wife's 60th birthday and they 'missed it' after promising to do something special for her. Though after I brought that to their attention the following day they made a great effort to make up for it by decorating our room with a cake, balloons, and other decorations while we were out. Better 'late than never' I suppose. Why tell people you plan to do something for a special occasion and then not follow through? The La Cieba has two elevators that are limited to two passengers, one of which is out of operation. So with the maids using the one working elevator guests can wait five minutes or more for the elevator to come to your floor (we were on the 11th, and there are 12 floors). There is a narrow stairway which we used for going down, but after two days maintenance was doing cleaning and painting so that option was very limited. Perhaps it was because we were on the 11th floor (and the view from up there was very nice) but the water pressure for the shower was perpetually inconsistent and the water temperature would go from scalding hot to tap water cold and back to scalding hot and back to cold again over and over. When I mentioned it to Cesar upon checkout he reacted as though no one had ever told him that before which I believe is the resorts response should anyone bring it up. My wife and I travel somewhere six or seven times each year to different places in the world but I don't think we'll be going back there. Yes, I gave it three stars, that's because the place was about 10% full (they say 50%, but that's BS). We liked the quietness due to the lack of activity and minimal amount of whiny children! The television channels are very limited; most are in Spanish only. No History Channel. They probably had six channels that had soccer on 24/7. No Golf Channel, several cartoon channels. Our room was opposite the elevator. So, when a family of four waited each morning for the elevator to return to the 11th floor the kids in that group were very loud which woke us up every morning, hours before we wanted to get up. Rooms opposite elevators should be for families with kids. Seniors should be lodged as far from the noise as possible! That should be standard practice!

We purchased this all inclusive package and from the travel agency site it made us believe this resort had one of the nicest beaches along the coast. There is really no beach, but rocks along the western coast of Cozumel. Snorkeling is fine, but there’s no walk out beach unless you do some traveling, and even with renting a car and driving to the eastern side of the island, it’s hard to find a beach- there are none with resorts or areas that cater to you. We rented a car and drove but choices are limited, and what beach areas you do find are developed into parks that you have to pay up to $65 USD pp to use the chairs, umbrellas, and water toy inflatables. A few of these places will include drinks with entrance price.
The people were nice and we felt safe walking in town at night. The walk to town was about 2 miles from our hotel. Had we known a taxi from the airport would only be $10 USD we would not have prepaid for the transport when booking- which costs us $100 USD to and from the airport round trip. There are few really nice luxury resorts on the island.

This hotel has a lovely location with view of the cruise ship terminal so one can enjoy the activity of the ships. The dining room view of the bay is spectacular. Wait staff are very friendly, helpful and out going. Food was outstanding and interesting.Throughout the hotel ALL staff were so pleasant. Activities director Julio offers interesting cultural events to high lite Mayan music/ dance as well as varied recreational activities. Snorkeling lessons / tours of the reef in the bay is safe and interesting...so many fish to enjoy right there!

When we arrived we were welcomed and check-in was a breeze. We always rent a car for our Cozumel trips to enjoy the island. We were able to park the car with no problems for our entire stay on site. We stayed in a one bedroom suite on the third floor. The suite has a living, dining, well supplied kitchenette area, Large bedroom, two vanity sinks, large walk in shower, toilet and separate soaking tub off the bedroom. Plenty of hot water. There are two balconies. Each had a table and two chairs. When we got to the room we were asked for our requests for beverages. My wife and I don't drink alcohol or sodas so we just asked for lots of water. They brought us a five gallon water dispenser. The staff listens and tries to accommodate your requests. We found that the staff is very friendly and always working to make your stay a great one. There's one major dining area. We stayed here for two weeks and when ordering from the menu there's plenty of choices. One thing to mention is that the restaurant is open air and not air conditioned. We visited in November and not being airconditioned was not a problem for us. The was usually a nice breeze. The view is of the ocean and cruise ships. The cruise ship docks and in front of the dining area. We've stayed in quite a few resorts in Cozumel and found that the one bedroom suite was definitely the best. Because this was out 50th wedding anniversary trip we purchased the "elite option" which allows ordering anything from the menu except lobster options. We purchased this not for the food options but for the guaranteed ocean view. We felt that the upgrade was definitely worth it. We had a view of the dive shop on the premises from one of the balconies. We come to Cozumel for the diving. The on-site dive operation was wonderful. It's been several years since we have been able to travel because of COVID and some other issues. We felt very comfortable with El Cid's facilities and steps taken to insure health and safety. We will definitely come back to the El Cid.

This is not the newest property, but the location is excellent, the rooms well-equipped and the staff a true gem. The restaurant, with all outdoor seating (don't worry, they protect you well if it's raining) is under a large palapa right on the water - right next to where you can snorkel on the property. There's a spa and a gym, a nice pool and beach area and a dock so you can be picked up / dropped off from boating / snorkeling / diving excursions. The restaurant staff is wonderful!! From the servers and bussers to the bar tenders, buffet team and chefs, all are friendly, helpful and more than happy to try and meet your every request. They make it a truly special stay. The Concierge, Platinum Club and Front Desk staffs are all helpful, knowledgable and willing to help figure out whatever is needed to make your stay great. This place is very well maintained, like all El Cid resorts: someone is always working on / cleaning / bettering something, whether it's the garden, the pool area, the lobby, etc. Real stand-outs for us this trip, though we loved meeting everyone on the staff, were Amilcar at dinner in the restaurant, Pedro and Paulino at the bar, Jennie at the Concierge desk and Hector, Saul and Emy in the Platinum Club. They all helped us in many ways, even when things seemed to get a little complicated, and made this trip a delight.

We didn't sign up for any package, as we find it boring to eat at one place. We ate breakfast at El Cid and normally ate other meals elsewhere. The Sunset just north of there makes great fajitas, and we found Tekila just a minutes' walk north of the El Cid to be very good as well.

Dear client, Thank you very much for choosing our resort as your upcoming vacation spot. Related to your previous question: Yes, our one-bedroom suites have a sofa bed for extra guests and if you require any room assistance in order to make the sofa bed more comfortable you can feel free to contact our housekeeping staff they will gladly assist you. On the other hand, we would like to recommend you confirm with your agency or travel agent that these additional people are included in the room reservation with the aim of avoiding any delay during your check-in. We will be waiting with open arms for your arrival at our resort. Cordially,

What are the details for a studio room?

We had a 1 bedroom. I am not sure how large the studio rooms are. We did not get the all-inclusive plan. We found that eating other places was cheaper. There is a nice restaurant called Ernesto's just a couple blocks u with really good food and cheaper than at the restaurant at the resort.

We booked through II and think it is likely the same as RCI. Our experience was that the hotel was very, very accommodating to our room transfer request. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t do the same for you. It took a day for our change, and we were not pushy about it. We asked very nicely and they responded like you wish every place would - with pleasing accommodation. I would call them ahead of time and ask, as it will probably get you what you want when you arrive. Just my 2cents.

There is a breakfast buffet, but it is expensive. I can't remember the exact price but it was between $20-$25 per person. You can order off their menu instead for less. We found a charming little restaurant 2 blocks down going towards downtown, called Ernesto's that had excellent food for half the price. An easy walk. On the same side of the street as El Cid. I believe they open around 6am & close at 5pm. Right on the water.
