'Be Known' at George Fox University
To be known. It’s the hope each student brings to the college experience. At George Fox University, to "be known" by name is to be valued, encouraged, uplifted. When students are known in this way, things change. Knowledge moves from the mind to the heart, careers turn into callings, and faith turns into action. And that’s why we make a simple promise: that each student will be known.
George Fox is a Christ-centered community that prepares students spiritually, academically and professionally to think with clarity, act with integrity, and serve with passion. We are classified as a national university by U.S. News & World Report, and ranked as the No. 1 private college in Oregon by The Wall Street Journal.
Academics
We offer more than 60 undergraduate academic offerings, which includes U.S. News-ranked engineering and nursing programs. Additional George Fox majors include biology, theology, music, business administration, biochemistry, kinesiology, history and studio art.
Interested in studying abroad? More than 50 percent of our undergraduates do so, as we offer more than two dozen international and domestic study-abroad programs, as well as Juniors Abroad, three-week trips to locales around the world each spring.
Tuition and Financial Aid100% of our traditional undergraduate students receive financial aid. We award annual merit scholarships ranging from $16,000 up to $22,000 annually in financial savings. Students also can qualify for our annual Scholarship Summit that awards up to $3,000 in annual department awards, and we offer an annual Visit Experience Scholarship for students who visit campus. On average, students are awarded more than $30,000 in financial aid. Plus, they graduate with 40% less debt than the national average, and 88% graduate within four years.
Faith and Service
Faith in Christ is central to the educational experience at George Fox. Students participate in weekly chapels, Life Group Bible studies, worship, and service opportunities, and they are known by name in a community of Christian faculty and staff members. We encourage students to grow and explore their faith journey while discovering who God has called them to be.
Location
The university’s 85-acre tree-shaded campus in Newberg, Oregon, is a short distance from Portland, Mt. Hood, and the Pacific Coast. The university’s recreation department offers student excursions to enjoy all the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

I chose George Fox for nursing because I wanted a good education and to learn from Christian professors who have been practicing nurses and Christians. I have loved my experience here! From the first year and on, all of my faculty have been just outstanding. They have all offered to have coffee with me (and a few I have taken up on that) and are so relatable, but also brilliant. My nursing professors have been the smartest teachers I have ever met. I have loved all of my experiences in this program. Also, on an ending note, George Fox has the best climbing wall. I had never indoor bouldered before George Fox and my life has forever been changed by their amazing gym.
