We started our walk from the Tai Mei Tuk Carpark at 11am friday. Lots of people cycling, walking, jogging and a group of young people was dancing in the helicopters landing area. Its a lovely walking tract, walk pass barbecue sites, outdoor activities centre and then you will see the main Dam.

Plover Cove is one of those places where local people go to relax but don't get a look in on many travel guides. As local expats say this part of HK is the dark side. Meaning I suppose away from the neon lights. It's a beutiful part of HK that not many tourist will get to hear about or get to see. To get there is a bit of a bind unless you have a car. To get there you have to take the train to Tai Po station and then take the 74K bus to the terminus at Tai Mei Tuk, which incidently you can hire a bike from one of the shops there. Food wont be a problem as there are plenty of restaurants ranging from fish and chips to Thai. Not many chinese restaurants but then again local people are there to get away and relax and do something different. Beyond the group of Restaurants is Plover Cove Country Park which is an oasis in the chaos that is the norm in HK. At the park there is various walks that you can go on, but be sensible and wear sensible walking shoes as some of these paths are rough and ready and are not paved. I went on the Brides Pool path which was an easy circular path but evenso some parts of it were pretty steep. However it was worth the effort as the scenery was little short of spectacular especially when you got near the rocky river bed.

The Plover Cove reservoir is an absolute must visit attraction while in Hong Kong.
It's as far as it gets from central Hong Kong (located in the New Territories).
The reservoir is beautifully located next to the green mountains, with numerous islands and islets in the horizon, as well as the skyline of the less rural areas of Hong Kong.
It's possible to take a long walk along the reservoir banks or take the family trail with some wonderful view points from the hill above.
Give yourself at least 2-3 hours to fully enjoy this place.

Plover Cover reservoir is a place that natural lover ll love to visit the scenic reservoir on the other side and the sea on the other side. The reservoir is 2 Km long and its very well be accesses by foot and by bi cycle. I took bicycle for rent near Tai Wai MTR for 70 HKD and reached Plover cove reservoir. The full length of 28 Km rout is paved with bicycle path and its well maintained. The sign boards are very well displayed . there are lot of refreshments sited along the path . The plover cove reservoir is the end point of the Route, situated at Yau Mei Tuk and some bicycle shops offers facility to return their bicycle at Yau Mei tuk and i did so. Plover cove reservoir road is frequented by bicyclists plying along the road continuously during weekends. The reservoir offers some of the scenic vies , and there is a rafting and boating water sport complex at the entrance of the Plover cove reservoir, we can see people relaxing , flying kites, i would suggest to rent a bicycle at Yau mei tuk and explore the reservoir scenic vies slowly without strainig by walking.

We did a wonderful walk with superb views of the reservoir. Take the 275R from Tai Po market MTR station on a Sunday only. Get off at the Brides Pool terminus. Walk up the road for about 100 meters and take the Pat Sin Leng Nature Trail. The trail is not too difficult and your efforts are rewarded by lovely views of the reservoir. Nice restaurants await at the end too.

The Plover Cove Reservoir is a very nice getaway from HK's city life. It is about half an hour away by bus or mini bus from the Tai Po Market Train Station. The dam itself is 2.2km one way, so a walk back and forth only takes 45 to an hour for an adult. There are bikes and boats for rental as well. The wide open space is perfect for pictures and sunbathing. Some even fish at the reservoir (must obtain license for fishing). There is no shade along the dam though, so hats on in sunny days. After walking, consider having a meal at the many good restaurants in Tai Mei Tuk.

This time we have taken Minibus from Tai Po Market to Tai Mei Tuk Pool bus, than we rent a bike. This is how to enjoy the windy December plus beautiful nature panorama. We cycling along the cycle tracks look at as closed to Tsz Shan monastery (should take online booking for visit this place....must come next). Continue cycled back to Plover Cove Nature Park. Yes a lot of interesting view to see and stop by. The reservoir / Dame , water sports attractions, the park (but we haven’t hike to the hill ... the best part and make sure we on a fit condition😊). Well we pretty much enjoy cycling over here.
And we back to Tai Po by Minibus (you can take bus or minibus sorry forgot the number).

Difficult to begin, it had almost everything, hire a rowing boat or cycle, have a barbecue, or eat at one of the fantastic casual restaurants, go for a walk to the waterfall at Brides Pool or maybe arrive at dusk and watch the sun set. It's a great place to relax and have fun. The only disappointment is the Government stopping fishing in the little pool which now lies vacant. You can get there by bus, if coming by car get early on weekdays as parking is difficult.

I've been to Plover cove many times with my Son & his 2 dogs. This time I took my friend as it was her first visit to Hong Kong & I think it's a good place to walk & chill out. Sit & have a cold drink or ice cream & watch the world go by.
