‘Been Raised in a Orthodox Christian Family, but I Don’t Limit Myself to That’- Novak Djokovic Clarifies His Religious Beliefs

Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic has continued his good form this year. The 35-year-old made it to the fourth ATP tour-level final of the season. Earlier this year, he won the Rome Open and Wimbledon Championships. After winning the semifinal encounter, the 35-year-old did a special gesture pointing upwards.
The gesture got the reporter’s attention as the Serb claimed a few days back that he was a man of faith. Here’s the conversation between Djokovic and the reporter.

Novak Djokovic on following his faith
While Djokovic pointed up, a reporter curiously asked how important religion is to his family. Also, the reporter asked a few more private questions regarding his faith in Christianity. Here’s how Djokovic answered it.

“It’s going too much in the private life and intimacy. So, I will not talk about these things. But I have been raised in an Orthodox Christian family. But I don’t limit myself to that, so to say. I consider myself an open-minded and open-hearted person that respects and embraces everything that religions and knowledges that people have around the world that could enrich my life and my family’s lives. So I’ll keep it to that,” the 21-time Grand Slam champion said.

Djokovic to face Marin Cilic in the final of Tel Aviv

In the ongoing Tel Aviv Open, Djokovic defeated Roman Safiullin of Russia in straight sets, while Cilic got the better of French tennis star Constant Lestienne in the semifinals. Now the two stars will battle it out for the trophy in today’s final.
Both Djokovic and Cilic are experienced players and can deal with the pressure of the final. If we look at their head-to-head record, the Serb has completely dominated his Croatian opponent. In the 20 matches they have played so far, Cilic has managed to win only two while Djokovic has won the rest.
