Warning! Contains spoilers for Batman #147!

Summary

  • Damian Wayne defeats Amanda Waller's strike team, showcasing his superior combat skills at a young age.
  • Amanda Waller handpicked elite soldiers to face Batman, only to be surprised by Damian's victory.
  • Damian's League of Assassins training sets him apart as one of the best-trained Robins with Batman-level abilities.

When Amanda Waller created a squad to take down Batman, there's no doubt she picked the best of the best, and yet, it was only one Robin who beat them: Damian Wayne. Amanda Waller runs the Suicide Squad with an iron fist and knows exactly what members to send on a mission to get the results she wants, meaning Damian can definitely take her on alone — and win.

After Zur-En-Arrh's Batman takes over Gotham City, Amanda Waller decides to prod him and see just how far he's willing to go. To achieve this, she sends a strike force specifically selected to defeat Batman and bring him to her. But to her surprise, and the surprise of the soldiers, it's not Batman they encounter, but rather Robin, as seen in Batman #147 by Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Jiménez.

Damian Wayne Takes Down Amanda's Strike Force

As the soldiers enter Wayne Manor, Damian quickly dispatches the soldiers who were explicitly chosen by Waller for this task. These military forces were surely expecting to go up against Batman, making this battle an absurd showcase of the young Robin's skills.

Amanda Waller Would've Chosen Only the Best for This Mission

Amanda Waller is the leader of the Suicide Squad and the brains behind the iconic team. She actively seeks out new people to recruit who would be useful, such as the recent recruit Dreamer, who Waller specifically went out of her way to get on the team. This shows that Waller wouldn't just send any random soldiers into Wayne Manor to confront Batman. It's likely that these soldiers were the absolute best of the best and were all chosen for a reason. Despite this, these Batman-ready forces were all brought down by Damian Wayne, entirely on his own.

Damian Wayne fans should check out DC's latest Black Label series, The Boy Wonder by Juni Ba, which rewrites Damian's origin story with a fairy-tale twist.

There have been many Robins over the years, but Damian Wayne has always stood out as being one of the most well-trained and dangerous of the group. While every other Robin was trained by Batman to become a world-class fighter, Damian was already an extremely competent and dangerous fighter by the time he came to be part of the Bat-Family. This is due to the intense training he went through as a member of the League of Assassins. By the age of ten, Damian had already killed over a hundred people, which makes it no surprise that he's capable of doing Batman-level feats.

Damian Wayne Is One of the Best-Trained Robins

Despite His Young Age, Damian Regularly Pulls Off Batman-Level Feats

Damian Wayne is the only Robin who came to Batman as an already-trained fighter. Adding Batman's training on top of that just made him that much more dangerous. While there's no doubt that characters like Red Hood or Nightwing could do the same in Damian's position — and certainly Batgirl Cassandra Cain — they've also had years more experience. Amanda Waller fully expected these soldiers to, at the very least, push Batman into fighting back to expose how far he's willing to go. But she didn't even get to see Zur's Batman fight, as Damian Wayne took these soldiers down entirely on his own, proving his worth as Robin.
