Alexis Mac Allister is an Argentine professional footballer who was born on 24 December, 1998, in La Pampa, Argentina. He plays as a central midfielder for English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion and the Argentina national team.

Family and origins
Alexis Mac Allister was born in an Aregtine family with Scottish and Irish descent. He was born to “Red” Carlos Mac Allister, a retired footballer and he is also the nephew of Patricio Mac Allister, another professional retired footballer. He has two older brothers Francis Mac Allister, aged 27, and Kevin Mac Allister, aged 25. Notably, both of them are also professional footballers.
According to Mac Allister, his ancestors arrived in Argentina from Donabate, Ireland. Moreover, he added that his ancestors can be traced back to Fife in Eastern Scotland before they arrived to Ireland in the 1800s. Alexis Mac Allister’s dad Carlos Mac Allister, aged 55 was a left-back who played for several clubs including Argentinos Juniors, Boca Juniors, and Racing Club. During his career, he won three international caps for the Argentina national team back in 1993.
After his retirement Mac Allister got elected as a National Deputy for the Republican Proposal party back in 2013. He served as a representative of his native province of La Pampa. He later served as Secretary of Sports in the government of President Mauricio Macri from 2015 to 2018.

Back in October, Mac Allister signed a new contract with Brighton set to last until June 2025, with the added option of an additional year. He scored his first goal for the club after just 49 seconds against Aston Villa on 13 November.
Mac Allister featured for the Argentine squad national senior squad back in January 2022. During a group stage game against Poland on 30 November, he scored his first international goal. He then featured in the Argentina national senior squad during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022.
