A Shelby County school has just cracked the U.S. News & World Report’s list of the top 25 public high schools in Alabama.
Chelsea High School was ranked No. 25 in the state by the news agency; it was at 32 last year. Homewood High, Mountain Brook High and Vestavia Hills High remain among the top five high schools in Alabama.
Mountain Brook High School is ranked 87 nationwide in STEM schools and is the only Alabama high school to crack the top 100 ranked high schools in the country.

Of course, there are many ways to assess school quality, and many things that influence a local school’s performance. Some schools in the Birmingham metro recently got a shoutout for helping more students graduate on time.
