Potentially Lost all my Project after Windows 10 Reset Help!

PostSun Apr 21, 2019 4:14 pm

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to DaVinci Resolve.
I recently had to reset my computer (Windows 10) due to problems I was having unrelated to DaVinci. I reset my computer using the option to keep all my files but wiping out all programs I had installed. I automatically assumed that my projects would be safe since they are all files but after the reset, I installed DaVinci and my projects did not show up during the program's startup. What do I do??
I tried to look up my projects by the .drp extension but nothing came up.
Please help! I have 13 hours worth of finished projects that I can't find!!

If the "reset" deleted the ProgramData folder in the c: directory, which is likely, you will have lost the local Resolve database, and all projects there. Here's where to look:

c:\programdata\Blackmagic Design\Davinci Resolve\support\resolve disk database

and keep drilling down until you get to the "projects" folder. If nothing's inside, you lost everything.

All this assumes you didn't create a disk-based database and store it elsewhere.

...for the future do a database backup AND export every project onto another disc...I had to learn this the hard way too....
