Ann K. (Twomey) Carey, passed away November 10, 2022 at her home in Popponesset, MA. She was 96 years old. Ann was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Carey with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.

Ann was born on April 24, 1926 to the late John J. Twomey and the late Dorothy (Burke) Twomey in Medford, MA. Ann proudly served her country during WWII by working for the engineering company, Stone & Webster. While there, she assisted with the Manhattan Project. She later worked as physician’s assistant. She also lived in West Roxbury and Dover, MA. Ann and her family summered in Popponesset for many seasons and eventually retired to full time residency on Popponesset Beach.

Ann loved her family and friends. She was a voracious reader and was always able to complete the Boston Globe Crossword Puzzle in pen. Ann enjoyed playing Bridge and her bridge friends very much. But most of all, she was known for her fabulous baking, cooking and love of entertaining.

Ann is survived by her son Gregory Carey, his wife Angela, and their children Meghan and Rachel of Waquoit, MA: her daughter Paula A. Carey of Brighton, MA: She is also survived by her daughter Michelle Carey-Schmidt and her husband Richard, of Los Gatos, CA: her son Peter J. Carey, his wife Maritza, and his children Jordan, Sofia, and William of Sandwich, MA: Lastly, she is survived by her siblings Adele Coughlin of Dover, MA and Diane Walton and her spouse Russell of Norwood, MA. She is predeceased by her sister, Joan Grey of Chatham, MA and her brother, Eugene Twomey of Dover, MA.

A visitation will be held at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave., in Mashpee on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Parish, 5 Job's Fishing Rd, Mashpee, MA 02649, on November 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM and will be followed by her interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, MA 02542.
