If you read my review of Yorktown then you remember I said these sites can be confusing. I really appreciated another reviewer who pointed this out. In Jamestown, there are three places to visit and each one has a separate fee. We did not visit the Jamestown Settlement Museum which you will drive by on your way to the actual Jamestown site. From what I read, this is a great stop if you have kids (lots of hands on stuff) with you whereas the actual site may be less interesting to kids, but for American History fans like my husband and I, we really enjoyed it. We had visited the Yorktown Battle Field the day before and our tickets we purchased from the National Parks Service also gained us entry to Historic Jamestown. The park consists of the beautiful walkway over the marshland to the site, the ruins of new town, and paths along the James River. If you want to go onto the actual site where the settlers were, a different org manages this and there is a separate fee...the fee is worth it. We enjoyed walking around the area, but the best part is the museum. The museum features all the archaeological finds including actual skeletons of some of the settlers with their history. Unfortunately it had been raining the day before so the actual dig sites were covered up, but you can tour the reproduction of the church and the actual cemetery. Both sites have museum shops which were nice, but if you want to eat at the cafe, you have to pay to go onto the actual site. The cafe was very good...they make sandwiches and salads to order and had things we had never had before...I ended up going home and reproducing the Big Mac pasta salad we had.

The reenactors were incredibly knowledgeable and brought the 18th century to life. The streets and buildings were beautifully preserved, and the tours were both educational and entertaining. A must-visit for history buffs!

One of the stops on our US History Tour was the Jamestown Settlement. This is an educational and activity site, featuring full-size replicas of the three ships that arrived in 1607, and a replica of the fort. I was quite surprised how small the ships were, and marvelled that people were brave enough to set out across the seas in such small ships. Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in the New World. There is a nice visitors center and museum with exhibits and information about the settlers, the hardships they dealt with, and the Native Americans who already lived in the area. We enjoyed our time there. It was a good supplement to the things we saw and did when we went to Historic Jamestowne a number of years ago, the actual site of the community.

The Governor’s Palace is one of the centerpieces of Colonial Williamsburg and we greatly enjoyed today’s guided tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the building, its renovations, and the colonial governors who lived there.

After being comped day tickets for a horrible Christmas Town experience, we decided to give BG another chance…
We arrived to park an hour before BG opened to avoid lines. (Worth it!) Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Many of the rides were open and operating, some at only half capacity, I would assume because of staffing issues. But, we were able to ride almost everything we wanted with short to no wait times.
The park was beautiful but many of the shops and eateries were closed.
    Ate at Trapper’s - 2 adult meals and 1 child’s meal was $75.
The park map in the app is not very helpful. It fails to include the attraction names, so it is a hit-and-miss at where you intend to go and actually go.
I was NOT able to find any nursing rooms but found quiet, secluded areas to feed my daughter.
The park hours NEED to be extended for the admission price. Not able to complete everything in one day - this is a two day kind of park. Was there open to close and not able to see a single show.
Overall, much better visit than at Christmas.

We now always take the ferry wherever we are going to the Williamsburg area. It is free entertainment, relaxing and this route avoids much of the traffic of Richmond and the Hampton Roads area. Just be aware that you may have to enter Scotland Ferry as the destination for your GPS. Then, when you board the ferry, reprogram your GPS with your final destination.

This museum is such a fabulous collection of folk art from the smallest most mundane everyday tools to the beautifully carved furniture and decorative porcelain. We spent all day there and didn’t see everything. Will go back!

This carefully maintained historic church is still a working church, with regular weekly services. Church volunteers are on hand to answer questions. There are pews with the names of the most likely attendees is each row.

The glass blowing was done in a dome fire pit. The colonial man did a phenomenal job explaining his work step by step. His finished product was beautiful.

Large water park with lots to do for all ages. There is everything here from bigger more adventurous water slides toa wave pool to multiple large splash pads for the kids. We liked that there were plenty of non-slide options for those times that we didn't want to wait in a line. Overall the lines weren't terrible because there are so many options. There are many seating options throughout the park. We arrived when the park opened so we had no trouble finding seats to park our stuff. We left our belongings on a chair rather than deal with the chaos by the lockers. The whole family had a great time here.

I do need to comment on the all day Dining Plan (which I will copy into my Busch Gardens review as well). Never have I seen a promotion so antithetical to guest satisfaction. The rules and restrictions on this plan are borderline hostile. You want to get a bag of chips instead of a side or dessert, nope forget it. Better yet, you want to get a bag of chips instead of an entree, side and drink? Nope, forget it. You want a specific side? Well they will tell you which sides are allowed. If you're someone that frequents fast food chains and buys combos off those menus then this plan will be fine for you. And will be cost effective. If you like the slightest bit of choice then you might want to skip the dining plan.
