Lolita Lyrics

[Verse 1]
From the mouths of babes, to the power of men
I'll make it all new again
Hold my hand, hold my hand
'Cause I can't touch the ground
The carousel goes around, 'round, and 'round

[Pre-Chorus 1]
The addiction, the friction, it burns you alive
So illegal, no evil is seen with these eyes
I won't tell if you won't and I will if you want
Nothing is sacred, don't care if it's wrong

[Chorus]
I'm your Lolita
La Femme Nikita
When we're together
You'll love me forever
You're my possession
I'm your obsession
Don't tell me never
I'll love you forever

[Verse 2]
Doomed from the start, we can't stay apart
Everywhere I turn, I'm trapped in your heart
There's no escape
, secrets keep you awake
No running away, no saving the day
[Pre-Chorus 2]
Wild and exciting
I'm breaking you down
You're making a comeback
I'm taking your crown
Nursery rhymes, I'm singing my dreams
I'm lost in the woods and you're baring your teeth

[Chorus]
I'm your Lolita
La Femme Nikita
When we're together
You'll love me forever
You're my possession
I'm your obsession
Don't tell me never
You'll love me forever

[Bridge]
Always stay close to me
Don't think of leaving
And I promise I will keep
Our secret, secret, secret

[Chorus]
I'm your Lolita
La Femme Nikita
When we're together
You'll love me forever
You're my possession
I'm your obsession
Don't tell me never
You'll love me forever
[Outro]
Always stay close to me
Don't think of leaving
And I promise I will keep
Our secret, secret, secret, secret, secret, secret

About

Genius Annotation

Lolita was the comeback single of sisters Origliasso after almost 6 years of musical break. The track was supposed to be in their third studio album album Life on Mars, (2012).

Due problems on the label, the album was possposed to 2013. Having been barred from releasing an album since 2007, Lisa and Jessica eventually hired a lawyer in a bid to get out of their contractual obligations with the label and were successful, so by 2013 The Veronicas became an independent act. Releasing a statement which described the struggles experienced with Warner, they said, “After 5 years of being in a ‘Warner Brothers Records Lockdown’, we are officially able to move forward RELEASING and Recording music without our past label dictating our creative journey, or withholding our musical releases + touring.”

By April 2014, The Veronicas signed with Sony Music and continued working on their record which was re-named The Veronicas.

What did The Veronicas say about "Lolita"?
Genius Answer

To us, Lolita, is about power play… It’s the power play between genders and age groups, as well as people’s perception of taboo, boundaries, what is acceptable and what a Lolita is: She’s a bad-ass and she’s on a mission. She wants to destroy something, either her own perception of what’s right and wrong or everyone elses. She wants to prove something to herself.

What did The Veronicas say about the song being released as a single?
Genius Answer

“‘Lolita’ was an interesting time, because there was no real strategy behind the release. The song was literally just picked out of a bunch of demos by the label as something that was currently trendy as far as the sonic style was concerned.
