James George Alexander Bannerman Carnegie, 3rd Duke of Fife[1] (23 September 1929 - 22 June 2015) was a great-grandson of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

He was the first person in the line of succession to the British throne who was not related to King George V. As a great-grandson of a British sovereign, he did not carry out royal and official duties or receive any funds from the Civil List.

The Duke of Fife was the second cousin to Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Harald V of Norway. Through his maternal grandfather, he was also a descendant of William IV of the United Kingdom and Dorothea Jordan.
