In 'Columbo Goes to the Guillotine' Elliot Blake (played by Anthony Andrews) , a well-known psychic who has been exposed as a fraud, uses his past mentalist abilities to live a luxurious life at the expense of a psychic research institute and potentially even the US Government. Initially viewed as a threat, a challenge created by a prominent magician and skeptic of psychics becomes his opportunity for payback against his former mentor.
Anthony Andrews is an English actor born on January 12, 1948, in London, England. He is known for his work in film, television, and stage productions. Andrews gained widespread recognition for his role as Sebastian Flyte in the 1981 television adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel "Brideshead Revisited." He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance in the series. He also starred in the 1982 film "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and its sequel, "The Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel." In addition to his work in film and television, Andrews has had a successful career on stage. He has performed in numerous productions in London's West End and on Broadway, including "The Sound of Music," "My Fair Lady," and "The Phantom of the Opera." Andrews has won several awards for his work, including a Laurence Olivier Award for his performance in the play "The Normal Heart" and a Drama Desk Award for his role in the play "A Little Night Music."
