Dwight Brown National Newspaper Publishers Association It's a true-life story, masterfully directed by Rod Lurie who instinctively captures the danger, risks and moments of desperation and humanity of the event. Rated: 3.5/4 Dec 18, 2020 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Each death mattered. Each sacrifice resonated. Each act of heroism in the face of overwhelmingly lethal odds stopped my heart and forced me to pay rapt attention. Rated: 3.5/4 Jul 10, 2020 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A solidly made and well-acted film. Jul 9, 2020 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia It is, at best, a somewhat average war film. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 6/10 Jan 27, 2024 Full Review M.N. Gero C I don't know why war movies make me so sad inside. This one in particular made it clear to me. Showing the rawness, the trauma, the deaths and everything that was experienced in a battle so that the public feels sad. Because despite being a movie, you know that this happened in real life, and it makes you sad when you see that these soldiers lived in the flesh. Highly recommended Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/19/24 Full Review Brian D 82%. True story about a basically indefensible base camp at the base of a mountain in Afghanistan, protecting from the taliban trying to enter from Pakistan. Documents four or so head officers that head things for portions of the film. Pretty intense throughout with the Taliban constantly coming down the mountain and ends with a long battle. Cool to see the comraderie amongst the guys but not much real character development. Don’t get to know anyone too well. Good movie but not great. 3/5 on rewatch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/24/24 Full Review Connor A This is a really good film. The performances are good, the actors resemble the real soldiers they portray and honor them well. The battle is brutal and intense. Worth a watch if you're into war films Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/23/24 Full Review Kevin S Very intense movie, I very much appreciated several of the actual soldiers playing themselves, I'm sure it wasn't easy. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Aaron C Very solid war flick. Orlando Bloom gives a great performance. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review Jonathan H A solid war film depicting true events from the war in Afghanistan. War is hell and this movie puts you directly in the line of fire to experience its horrors. Great acting, tense, violent situations and a sobering reminder of the cost of war. No doubt U.S. historians will be discussing and debating the merits of this particular use of our troops for decades to come.
