Besides dropping the Dunki teaser, Shah Rukh Khan grabbed headlines for treating fans to Jawan’s release on Netflix. On his 58th birthday, the actor had shared a video of himself urging fans to see the movie. He wrote, “Birthday Jawan ka hai par gift sab ke liye We're good to go!Jawan (the extended cut) is now streaming in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, only on Netflix.” Soon after, the netizens decoded a few additional footage and expressed disappointment over the blink-and-you-miss-it category extension.
According to reports, Jawan’s OTT version is just 5 minutes longer than the theatrical version of 2 hours and 45 minutes. The extended cut includes full songs unlike in theatrical release. Even the Health Minister’s kidnapping scene is detailed in the OTT version. It is reported that Nayanthara’s role as a single mother along with a super cop has also been shown. Some brief voiceovers for Lakshmi's (Priyamani) character and a brief extension of the much-talked-about hospital scene featuring Sanya Malhotra are included in the extended cut.

Reacting to the OTT version, a fan said, “Extended scenes 1. Zinda Banda song last portion 2. After Chaleya song Engagement scene 3. Health Minister kidnapping scene Abhi yahi Tak dekha hu Aage koi scene milta hai to update deta hu.” An angry user reacted, “First learn what "EXTENDED CUT" means. Don't always prioritize false marketing.” “This was such a prank with us. Where is the extended cut? "A minute extra is called extended cut, really, Netflix?" were some other comments. Jawan was released in theatres on September 7, 2023, in all languages. Directed by Atlee, the film has earned over Rs 1000 crores worldwide from its theatrical release. Besides SRK, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and Sanya Malhotra, the film also has cameo appearances of Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh on Thursday unveiled the much-awaited first glimpse of Dunki. The short glimpse received mixed reactions from the viewers. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani. It is set for Christmas 2023 release in theatres.
