Every Song On The No Hard Feelings Soundtrack

Jennifer Lawrence in a restaurant in No Hard Feelings

“Draggin’ the Line” by Tommy James - No Hard Feelings opens up with "Draggin' the Line", a folk-pop song from 1971. It plays at the very beginning of the movie as Maddie is getting her car towed by a former romantic interest Gary (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) for failing to cover payments. This sets up the dramatic action for the rest of the film and leads Maddie to seek out other forms of getting money fast.

“Another Camden Afternoon” by The Stranglers - This 2012 alternative rock song plays just 3 minutes into No Hard Feelings when Maddie is forced to rollerblade to her bartending job after Gary tows her only mode of transportation. "Another Camden Afternoon" plays briefly in the background as Maddie screams at on-coming traffic, asking them with hilarious aggression, "You think I chose this?!"

“Jezahel” by Shirley Bassey - This 1971 pop song from Shirley Bassey plays as Maddie is stuck in her car that is attached to Gary's tow truck. The song plays around the 5-minute mark in the film when Maddie begins to realize how unfortunate her current circumstance is at not having access to her own vehicle. Gary regretfully uses his tow truck to prevent Maddie from spinning out and causing more damage to her car as the title card appears.

“Wondrous Place” by Billy Fury - A brief instrumental-only snippet of this classic 1960 Billy Fury song plays over a transition scene as Maddie starts her day bartending around the 7-minute mark in the film. Immediately after, Maddie gets into an argument with a rude patron who tries to get Maddie to open up the bar early just for him, resulting in a hilariously explosive reaction from Maddie.

“Down on the Street” by The Stooges - This 1970 rock classic by The Stooges plays as Maddie roller blades a great distance to go meet Percy's parents for the first time. The aggressive undertone of the song matches the intensity of Maddie's determination to get the job as well as the literal uphill battle she is facing in becoming financially stable.

“The Stroke” by Billy Squier - This 1981 funk rock song plays on the radio as Maddie drives Percy in her van for the first time. The two get to know each other as the song plays in the background. The sexually-charged song fits perfectly with the themes of the movie and this particular scene, as Maddie makes a very direct move on Percy.

“Driver’s Seat” by Sniff ‘n’ The Tears - Around the 28-minute mark of No Hard Feelings, this 1978 dance pop song plays as Percy walks into the bar for his first date with Maddie. Percy is met with the intense stares of the much older and grizzlier-looking patrons and laughs from some people who know he's too young to be there as the fun song plays in the background.

“Maneater” by Daryl Hall & John Oates - The most notable song in No Hard Feelings actually finds its way into the plot and the relationship between Maddie and Percy. While on their first date, Percy explains that the song is about a monster, while Maddie politely corrects him and tells him that's not what the song is about. Later on in the film, as Percy reveals his musical talents, Maddie realizes that the song is in fact about a monster in human form.

“Hot in Herre” by Nelly - During one of the raunchiest scenes in the film, Maddie dances in front of Percy in an attempt to get him to loosen up. Maddie dances while Nelly's classic 2002 hip-hop song plays in the background, attempting to elicit a party vibe that will finally get Percy to relax. Despite Maddie's best efforts, Percy proves to be a much bigger challenge than she had originally expected.

“Back to the Start” by Cary Brothers - This new song from indie pop singers the Cary Brothers was made specifically for No Hard Feelings and plays over the arcade montage scene in which Maddie and Percy play laser tag and air hockey. The good-spirited song sets a positive momentum for Percy and Maddie's ongoing relationship, which appears to be getting more serious in this scene.

“Would You?” by Richard Swift - This 2008 romantic indie song plays as both Percy and Maddie get ready for their private prom night. Percy puts on a tuxedo while Maddie puts on a glamour pink dress as they rent a personal limo for a very romantic dinner. The dreamy song plays around the 52-minute mark in No Hard Feelings.

“Maneater” performed by Andrew Barth Feldman - Hall & Oates' classic song appears again in No Hard Feelings, this time performed by lead actor Andrew Barth Feldman. Percy plays the song on piano while singing in front of a crowded room at a formal dinner. Maddie, who had never heard Percy sing before, is blown away by his talent, which gets the attention of one of Percy's future Princeton classmates. This scene reveals that Maddie might actually have genuine and possessive feelings for Percy.

“Anemone” by The Brian Jonestown Massacre - This 1996 rock song plays at the 62-minute mark when Maddie decides to follow Percy into the Princeton party. As Maddie walks in slow motion through the party with the atmospheric song playing in the background, she receives a great deal of attention from confused, judgemental college-aged girls and sexual interest from several boys. The song fades as Maddie searches for Percy in the large house party.

“Semper” by Last Verse - This 2018 party song plays while Maddie is at the Princeton party and is approached by two younger guys who ask about her age. The track plays in the background to set the mood of the party but does not take over the scene to allow the conversation between Maddie and the two guys to play out. Maddie's old-school personality starts to attract the attention of the partygoers and their cameras in the hilarious scene.

“Black Out Days (Future Island Remix)” by Phantogram - A remixed, stripped-down electronic version of "Black Out Days" by indie musical duo Phantogram plays at the 1 hour and 22-minute mark in No Hard Feelings. The track plays over a scene in which Maddie returns to her job as an Uber driver in the Buick that Percy destroyed after finding out that Maddie had been hired to date him. Percy returns to his bored life, playing video games and sitting in his room feeling upset about how Maddie had manipulated him all along.

“That’s That” by Cass McCombs - This song is one of the last that plays in the film around the 1 hour and 27 minute mark. Maddie looks into a fire at the beach as the song plays and gets her Buick fixed up in the next scene. She also spots tow truck driver Gary across the street and gives him a hug. The song fades as Maddie decides that she wants to sell her house, showing signs of maturity in Maddie's character.

“You’ll Accomp’ny Me” by Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - The last song of No Hard Feelings is by the legendary classic rock group Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band. In the last scene of the film, Maddie picks Percy up in her Buick and drives him to Princeton with her newly adopted dog Milo. The song portrays the real connection that Maddie and Percy developed for each other and thematically offers a glimmer of hope that the two might reconnect in the future.
